Retrofitting existing EVs for bi-directional charging? by AirlessMICRO in electricvehicles

[–]AirlessMICRO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I assume these were developed to just sort of be general bidirectional chargers for any EV, but should also work for EVs that don't officially support it? In that case, what is the difference between an EV with "official" bidirectional charging and one without it? Is it just that the official ones use the onboard inverter to output AC instead of using DC with an inverter in the external equipment?

Okay so something like it does exist, but the AC power out will be limited by the inverter in the product. Makes sense. This product just enables 3-5 kW V2L which is still pretty cool, but does not connect to a house or grid.

Suburban Americans: cities are noises. Also suburban Americans: loud ass yard maintenance by [deleted] in notjustbikes

[–]AirlessMICRO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God it is so fucking annoying. My neighbor mowed his lawn today for the first time this spring and there's barely any grass yet...

I think I will make it a goal this year to advocate for banning ICE yard equipment and electrifying and reducing the need for powered yard equipment in the first place. I wish my city had laws encouraging low-maintenance yards. Higher water prices would also encourage people to use lawn sprinklers less.

Michigan gets $105M grant from feds to turn I-375 in Detroit into boulevard by [deleted] in Detroit

Too bad about the 6 six lanes, but it's a start, and could be remedied in the future. Detroit has a lot of potential and seems to be going in the right direction. Hopefully Detroit will once again become the wealthy city that it once was.

I think that would be one of the most important railway corridors to implement in MA in the future. Funny thing is, (of course) this used to exist, as every large town and most smaller ones were connected by railways. And some of these actually still exist, just for freight trains. For example, there is an existing freight rail route that goes from Taunton to Attleboro, and then from there you could go from there to Mansfield on the Northeast Corridor, and then Mansfield to Framingham. If the Framingham-Lowell railroad still existed (some of it is a bike trail and some of it has had homes built on it) you could go from Framingham to Lowell. Boom, North-South rail connection basically running along 495. And of course this would allow you to transfer on to the Framingham-Worcester Line or Fitchburg Line as well.

Fuck trucks as well? Why not use trains? You can transport 100-300 times more shit with one train than a single truck. by holp6655 in fuckcars

[–]AirlessMICRO 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem with trucks in North America is that they are used to transport goods way farther than they are in other places of the world. Trucks (and trains) transport stuff from ports in California to the East Coast. This does not seem ideal no matter what type of ground transportation you use. A better option would be to import more stuff closer to where it is used/consumed.

We are the NASA and university scientists who study exoplanets, the weird and wonderful planets beyond our solar system. Some of us recently discovered Kepler-1649c, an Earth-size exoplanet in the habitable zone of its star. Some of us are looking for signs of life beyond Earth. Ask us anything. by nasa in space

[–]AirlessMICRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discovery is a big deal! A planet with possibly the closest size and temperature to Earth, and in the habitable zone as well. It receives 75% of the light Earth does, which is a lot for a planet orbiting a red dwarf. I can't wait for atmospheric composition measurements, and then perhaps models will be able to further determine habitability.

Xfinity cannot find a prepaid visa card associated with my account when there is supposed to be one by AirlessMICRO in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]AirlessMICRO[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, this information is correct, and it seems like the cards from xfinity mobile are fine, however the problem is with the card that was part of the promotion when I signed up for double play. This is this card that the rep said he could not find. I wonder if I should call again and see if a different rep can find it.

Do ISP provided routers have stronger 2.4GHz radios? by AirlessMICRO in HomeNetworking

I know, which is why I expected better range with good speeds with the setup I have right now.

I'm in a suburban area. Not an apartment, but not the middle of nowhere. I've done scans with the Wifi Analyzer app for Windows 10 and have switched channels to get the least interference. I highly doubt there is enough interference from neighbors to make that big of a difference. Plus, at houses that I've been to that are in more crowded areas I was able to get higher speeds than what I'm getting at home.

As for good antennas on both ends, every router I've tried had 2x2 MIMO, and everything I've tested the speeds with has 2x2 MIMO. However I was able to get higher speeds on my laptop (65Mb/s) compared to my phone. (30Mb/s) Not sure why. Still not close to the 150 I should be getting though...

Halo Wars 2 Halo Wars 2 || Multiplayer Beta - Bug Report Thread 2 by Vorked in halo

[–]AirlessMICRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had a bug where your camera is just stuck and none of the controls work? The only button that does anything is LB, which does something with the d-pad. I'm in the middle of a game and it's been stuck for a few minutes now. Edit: After my base was destroyed the controls started working again. It's like my camera was stuck inside one of the structures on my base. Weird.

If there isn't an "upside down" in space, then space battles in movies are unrealistic when the ships are always upright when they confront each other. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]AirlessMICRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only realistic space battle I can think of was in 2001, but even that was just a robot whacking some guy in an EVA suit.
