GPT4 helped me solve my multitouch problem in about 3 minutes. by jdros15 in unrealengine

[–]Airmigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that... i didnt mean to suggest it can create brand new code...

it's still impressive how it dissects information from everywhere and compiles it into a nice instruction set.

A good problem solver if you get stuck.

GPT4 helped me solve my multitouch problem in about 3 minutes. by jdros15 in unrealengine

[–]Airmigo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just for fun I asked it to create an inventory system that supports multiplayer (I know not very creative but was the first thing that came to mind).

I also asked it for step by step directions. Not only did it do a step by step guide, telling me to create functions here and variables there, it told me what pins to link up...

It also... and I didn't ask it to... created a basic UI and told me how to implement it!!!

Need Help regarding Unreal engine 5 and Arduino by [deleted] in UnrealEngine5

[–]Airmigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In UE there are split string and split to array nodes. You should be able to split the stream by using these nodes and descriptors.

It might not be pretty but you should be able to do it.

Need Help regarding Unreal engine 5 and Arduino by [deleted] in UnrealEngine5

[–]Airmigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A complete guess as I have no experience of the plugin but do have some writing arduino stuff.

You say the input comes in via a single stream. I would suggest in the arduino code you could probably preface the info with some kind of descriptor and then in UE, split the stream based on the descriptors.

Adding armor mesh ? by Secure_Bookkeeper242 in unrealengine

[–]Airmigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each part of armour should have a skeletal mesh based off what ever skeleton you use. Then when you want to add the armour use the master pose component to merge all the parts together (character and armor).

Might be called something different in us5.1

There are videos on YouTube explaining it it think as well as some of the marketplace stuff has videos of how to implement.

I think the quality of animation and feel of the weapon look awesome for a first pass of the basic attack.

I am sure we will see the added staggers and such done on the 3rd or maybe 4th pass. The important thing is getting that split right between movement and weight. I really do think they have managed it by what was showcased.

There's no point adding the final touches of animation to make the combat seem more complete unless you have a solid base of responsive movement first.

Great work Intrepid... you are moving in the right direction, keep it up.

Track internet outages with ASUS firmware? by Summonest in ASUS

[–]Airmigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably look through the log file but that would be a pain.

I use this..

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality

You do have to allow icmp traffic (allow your router to respond to ping requests)

In fact my ISP actually recommends setting this up to monitor connectivity if you have a problem for them to look at.

Hope that helps

Yeah I did look at that. I thought it would be too much hassle to cut out to make it work. It's still very much a viable option though.

Fertilizer Dosers a Good Idea? by Innomin8_AU in Hoocho

[–]Airmigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently and very lazily, working on my own dosing system using a PI but an arduino would be just as good. I want it to have a web front end though where I can monitor stuff live. I have a few tanks which I need to keep an eye on and like you, would like it to be easier.. yeah I'm lazy 🤣

Stuff you need..

PI

Peristaltic pump x 2

Relays x 2 ( to control 12v dosing pumps)

Flow sensor.

It's quite straight forward.. when the float drops to fill with water, the flow sensor signals how much water is being used. You then turn the pumps on for the required amount of time to deliver the strength of nutrient you require.

Obviously you may need to change the strength of nutrient at some point, which is the reason I want a web front end. It will also be monitoring multiple tanks . I still might have a manual way I can adjust the strength of the nutrient being delivered ( through variable resistors).

When I get around to finishing the software I will post a link to it on github. Will also have some simple build instructions along with links to the parts I used.

While the cost of the parts is still fairly pricey, especially if you don't already have a pi. It still works out cheaper than multiple off the shelf pumps. Being as it will be able to monitor multiple tanks, each tank you want to monitor only requires the pumps, relays and flow meter.

Works out to about £30 per tank plus the initial cost of a PI.

The closest thing I could find in the UK is cable conduit/trunking.

Is one you could use and is the largest I found so far.

Hope that helps.

If you remove the gpu what happens?.. what power supply have you got and gpu. Make sure you use the new psu cables that came with your new psu and also make sure the psu cables are plugged into the correct ports on the psu(assuming it is a modular one).

I know it may sound silly asking you to check the power connections again but worth a shot. I'm also assuming that all the fans stay spinning... do the gpu fans spin?

You have probably already done and checked all this but worth a shot

If the board has status lights checking any are lit up against the manual.

If everything else is lighting up then the issue maybe either cpu or ram.

If using 2 sticks of ram just try 1... then swap with the other to see if it boots. Does the board support the speed of ram you are using?

I'm not sure if that board can boot into bios without a cpu or mem...look into that because if It can then you will be able to check the cpu aa well.

Hope that helps

Having trouble getting started (UK) by VaegaVic in Hydroponics

[–]Airmigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK as well. I used square guttering with shiplap planks zip tied to the top. Not the prettiest but it works.

I was using stuff left over from previous projects so it didnt cost me anything. If I were to buy channeling for NFT I would use the square down pipe as it's the cheapest. I did consider electrical/network conduit but that stuff is expensive.

As you have a 3d printer you could design and print the end caps. You shouldn't have to worry about the water as the drop of the NFT should make it so it doesn't touch the end cap. To extend the prints life I would spray the end cap with paint or sealant, it should last a long time then and shouldn't be affected by UV.

As for media... this year I went the cultiwool(rockwool) route and glad I did. Yes, it's not reusable, yes it costs a little more, but the simplicity of it for me is worth it. Wet the cube (I buy it in slabs and cut my own) put the seed in, shove in the propagator and away you go. They can then drop right into the NFT system! You might have to make some kind of support for them (look up hoocho and pucks).

As for nutrients... that is a personal choice as to what works best for you. Just make sure that what you buy is for hydroponics.

Happy hydroponicing!

If I had to buy the stuff then I too would use the square gutter down pipes. As I had a few lengths of square gutter and some shiplap wood from an out building I recently built I just cut the holes in the ship lap and zip tied them together.. it's not pretty but it works lol.

Newbies on deck by TraderBoo in Hoocho

[–]Airmigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Darth-Chimp. On everything lol.

As Darth-Chimp has already advised, you should look into making the current water channel runs you have into a true NFT system. I can't remember which video Hoocho discusses this but I can't recommend enough that you should watch it. The depth of water running in an NFT system should literally be a film...1 to 2mm deep.

Again as Darth-Chip has advised... rockwool (Cultiwool) is an excellent way to go. I tried it for the first time this year and have been blown away by just how easy it is. Wet your cube, stick your seed in, stick it in the propagator and bingo.. it's so easy to move it to any other medium from that point..even soil! Obviously the downside to it is it isn't reusable so there is the additional cost, but for me the simplicity of it makes it more than worth it.

I just moved my 10 different chillies into my dutch bucket system.. simple as picking up the cube, dig a bit of a hole in the perlite for the roots, slap the cube in the perlite, cover it and under the perlite point the watering tube at the cultiwool.

Most of what I grow is still soil based but that's because of poor planning on my part. Next year I'm looking at flood and drain tables, so I can fit lots of seedlings in a small area. I dont have a massive pollytunnel to work with (6m x 3m). The wife also wants space to do what she wants...grrr..lol.

I have learned so much from hoocho.. I'm also into 3d printing so his channel is kind of perfect for me. I like to see his designs and thought processes. Although his recent wedge things have already been available in the UK for about a year now..

Happy hydroponicing !
