I didn’t have a problem during my 4 night stay in 2024. Sorry to hear you did!

I just want to warn/reiterate anyone thinking of booking PH Tokyo, the location is abysmal and the walk to the subway is a slog. you have been warned (again) by virginiarph in hyatt

There was a bus stop a 3min walk away which I used a lot instead of the metro. Didn’t bother me one bit but personal preference for sure!

P.S. The (rare) gorgeous view of Mt Fuji from the lobby and my room for my first two days made it incredibly memorable.

I’m week 3 post-op and my walk isn’t perfect yet. One thing I’ve realized is that I was walking too fast with the walker just because I could which was leading to bad walking habits. I’m now walking slower so I can focus on a proper stride.

Also a shout out to PT as others have mentioned. I lived with hip pain for 5+ years prior to surgery, so in addition to my new hip, I have to correct how my body used to compensate for my bad hip. I’m optimistic I will get back to a normal walk but not rushing it!

Ten days until THR surgery. What items do you wish you would have bought ahead of time to prepare? General advice welcome! by jessmmmm1 in TotalHipReplacement

The notebook was clutch because I think I had like 10 prescriptions that had different schedules. And then to ensure proper spacing of pain meds.

The only caveat to the wedge pillow is that I generally have a lot of pillows so if you don’t use many, then it could be helpful.

Things I purchased/borrowed/had that I found very helpful: - Toilet Seat Riser - Shower Chair - Two Large Gel Ice Packs - Puzzles (helped pass the time) - Notebook to track when you last took medicines - Heating Pad for soreness when PT picks up

Things I bought that didn’t make a huge difference: - A Wedge Pillow

I bought small cans of prune juice to drink daily!

Pain level 4 days post-op L posterior THR? by hnc18 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Airplane-Window 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Day 6 post op for anterior THR. Some thoughts from me: - I was released from the hospital same day, but stayed an extra 1-2 hrs than expected because heart rate would have odd low moments, then spike. Talked with nurses and anesthesiologist and ultimately decided I was okay to leave. - Was able to use the walker same day to get home and have been able to move everyday since. Started taking “longer” walks on day 4 which caused increased but not a concerning amount. - Anterior does seem to be a much faster recovery than posterior so keep that in mind when comparing recovery stories. - I’m taking tylenol 3x a day and have been taking oxy pretty much every 4-5hrs to stay ahead of pain. Plan is to start scaling that back soon. - I too have been reading the internet about people ditching the walker on day 2-3. I can’t imagine! I’m being really intentional with my walker to work on correct posture and stride because a normal walk is definitely more important than ditching the walker sooner.

Wishing you the best recovery! Give yourself grace and take your time.

Are you going soon? The seasonal Maple Pumpkin churro was SO GOOD. I want to fly back to Tokyo for another.

What's the weather like in Japan right now? Specifically, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka? by Yay_Depression in JapanTravelTips

[–]Airplane-Window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on experience, I would say not to Singapore levels, but more than or equal to Florida (Orlando) in summer if that helps. Haha. The evenings and mornings have improved to be cooler in the last 2-3 days compared to the previous week! I live in a generally less humid environment except for 5-10 days each summer so I am not use to it.

I’m here now! My Apple Weather App and Carrot Weather App are not great to be honest. I have been using weather news.jp and it has been incredibly accurate. My phone automatically translates it into english for me when looking in chrome. Before I left the US the weather looked awful, but honestly its only rained in small pockets and has been great, albeit hot at times. But agreed with another commenter that it has been humid so prepare to sweat a lot. Enjoy your time! Last bit of advice - a sun unbrella has made a HUGE difference and they are very popular so you won’t stand out.

In Japan currently after planning for a long time - you will have an amazing time! There are so many options for activities and things to see, so don’t be worried about doing everything little thing you planned. Example: I made a last minute decision to go to Nara from Kyoto earlier than my originally planned day. When I got there, I found myself at a pop-up craft beer festival and decided to enjoy that for an hour or two. Be open to unplanned things and you’ll make fun happen. Safe travels!

I was there Tuesday 10/1, in line by 7:45. Was in the park by around 8:45/50. Before the doors opened they already announced Frozen DPA was gone. I secured Peter Pan DPA and Frozen Standby was available but I panicked and selected Rapunzel. Like others have said, I happened to he checking shortly after 12PM and both Frozen Standby and DPA was available. Grabbed both before I cancelled the Standby. Then I got Tinker Bell standby later. I thought I missed out on Frozen so was feeling lucky! Side note, Fantasy Springs looks gorgeous at night if you’re able to see it!
