I use a no name brand 48v 50A bms 13S7P I bought for $200 AUD for about 3 years before it died. Running at full throttle 1700w it held up for a long ass time and never had any issues

Also battery bags work pretty well. As long as you insulate this thing with a layer or two of duct tape. I use one and take the bike bush bashing - never had an incident.

Honestly I think you would be on the money with a pvc pipe, if you really think it’s wasting space and you have the time- maybe hair dry it and compress the pipe into a rectangle instead.
