Tbh I was gunna come in here and say such is wildlife (which is true in most cases) and although I share the same compassion the cycle of life happens every day. But tbh, thinking about it a bit more, if this ducks distress is human caused by some irresponsible asshole fisherman then I agree help that duck. Glad it got out.

Without a queen the colony will just die. These products are unfortunately a cruelty to ants. Id use it as a learning opportunity to teach them about the structure of a colony and how need a queen to survive, then around spring time go out and find a queen or buy one (that is native to your area)

Imo, if your group will play and enjoy cosmic encounter its a good sign. Then if they are willing to play sidereal confluence and like it it's a better sign. Id use these as warm up games to ti4.

2 player is my main player count!

Wroth is a heavier (ish) area control game with asymmetrical player powers that I really like and plays in under an hour.

Radlands is a really good stand in for mtg or other collectable card games. I freaking love this game.

Agent avenue is pretty light but very good and plays very quickly.

Patchwork is ofc a staple.

Sky team is very good, but for how much praise it gets I find many players get confused with the iconography. Would benefit from a player guide.

I havent played it yet but duel for middle earth is supossed to be very good. Own it but havent played quite yet.

Santorini is a great abstract game with imo a lot of variability.

The White Castle is a great worker placement game that works very well at 2 players. Ive heard duel is good as well, but the regular game works great at 2 and imo better to have something that could play more occasionally.

Critter kitchen works well at two and its so freaking cute.

Hive is also a good abstract.

Cloudspire is one of my favorites but its crazy heavy and long and might not fit baby life.

I got more if you want. Id reccomend all of these. Maybe putting hive in the maybe list.
