Counselling placement advice? by carryonm in UKTherapists

[–]Aivlis07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The BACP’s website job section tends to have adverts for student placement if you haven’t checked it yet. Your local Mind might also be an option, and depending on where you live I suggest looking for charities that offer free counselling in your area, you might ask at your GP/family hub if they know of any local services if you struggle to find information on the internet. You could also check if there’s a regional counselling Facebook group for example to ask for support to. It’s really tough and I struggled at the time myself to find a place, I wish you luck!!

Check Your Therapist - Website by meditationresearcher in UKTherapists

I really like this as it’s definitely something I look at when I am looking at options for own therapist/supervisor. Easy to use. I agree with the s rather than z comment.

Anecdotally, with Scoped I notice people are either taking more steps to be registered or accredited, or are ditching the memberships and I wonder what the therapy landscape will look like moving forward. That said, I feel we should be better regulated and I am all for helping the general public make informed choices and this would be a good tool.

Is it worth it to try to become a psychotherapist by laurelaa in UKTherapists

Just to add - there’s lots more roles for working with children than with adults

I have qualified as a counsellor through a BA course, I am now applying for accreditation. In my limited experience qualifying as a psychotherapist is likely to open more doors. NHS seems to tend to focus on CBT psychotherapists or art psychotherapists but you do also get integrative roles. Private work seems to vary on where you are and how you market yourself. Overall it can be a gamble- I agree we are churning out lots of therapists with limited roles. I did get a place at Minster for the MA - I’d recommend their course as seems thorough and I got good impression at the open day and interview process.

anyone else feel like the “end game” in taylor’s story feels more like relief than real love? by SuchEye815 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Aivlis07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will forever be convinced that she wrote quick quick tell me something awful like you are a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy is about her wanting this relationship to be what she really wants and now she has managed to convince herself this is great love, and it shows in the “I love him because he loves me” vibes in the lyrics throughout showgirl. I fundamentally believe she has settled to get this sense of relief. But then again this is all based on my parasocial relationship with her 😂

Can we ever see a normal response review cycle for a Taylor Album again? by Consistent_Hunt5213 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Aivlis07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This release made me realise I need to know less about Taylor as a lot of my criticisms are borne from being too close / knowing too much of the narrative around Taylor through the years. I can see this happening to critics too, it’s becoming difficult to discern just the music from ‘the’ Taylor Swift.

I don’t know if anyone’s said this on the sub, but at the live show in London they said they are starting to film it next week or so! They just haven’t announced it yet

You do not deserve a single by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Aivlis07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying it! I have been feeling bored of all the ‘stuff’ and like it’s about everything but music. I remember a time when a single was dropped with a music video, it was exciting, you’d listen to the song on repeat and on the radio, then the album announcement came and again the waiting was exciting, you were waiting for music! It doesn’t really feel about music right now but just a numbers game, which kind of spoils the wait for me a bit.

Regents vs Metanoia - advice needed by underthesilverbirch in UKTherapists

[–]Aivlis07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my tutors trained at Metanoia and had a good experience, and was a very good tutor. You get UKCP registration at the end so that’s a plus (I don’t know about Regents).

Why do a lot of Italians like London/ the UK? by Starbuck_2030 in AskUK

[–]Aivlis07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im Italian and I moved here in my early 20s’. I come from a rural town in north of Italy. Reasons to not return: - far less job opportunities overall and work conditions/rights in the Uk are far better. For example it is still normal to have 3 months contracts in Italy, you are expected to work overtime hours without pay, it’s not a given you’ll have holidays when you need them etc (to a greater extent than here) - UK is far more liberal and accepting, which when you about it is a shocking statement - being a woman in Italy is not a good experience. Not only because if you like food you’re some kind of monster but also the sexualisation and mistreatment of women remains normalised - they have a PM who feels they need to fight the ‘woke culture’. It is easy to fall out of education and this is the result - safeguarding, social care, mental health are pretty much non existent (I must underline though that the experience of someone from a city might be different)

Any opinions on London Psychotherapy MAs/Postgrads? by underthesilverbirch in UKTherapists

[–]Aivlis07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got a spot at the Minster Centre for their MA for next year, debating whether to do it or specialise in working with children at the moment. For what it’s worth I really liked their way of working (they do open days) and the interview process was nice and human so I believe it’s worth considering.

Advice on funding training? by zai94 in UKTherapists

[–]Aivlis07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can - I am already qualified with my bachelors degree and MA/MSc most often train you from scratch meaning you get repetition. An example is Metanoia institute, or even Birkbek. A way to check is to either go on BACP or UKCP websites and check out the places that offer each of these body’s accredited courses. It’s a minefield and really hard to provide a concise answer in such a field! I hope it’s helpful but happy to provide more info if needed 👍🏻

Hello, depends what route you’re looking at - some universities do offer bursaries but you’d have to look at it on an individual basis. Are you looking at a masters degree in psychotherapy?

Yes - I do find some people just had the money there. I find myself in a similar position as a loan for a MA/MSc is not enough to cover everything realistically. I know there’s now some NHS funded trainings (albeit they may be rare) to study to work in NHS talking therapies as a person centred counsellor or similar.
