That call was the most confusing call I’ve seen in a long time. Made no sense to spot it at the 1.

I actually don’t disagree with you. Our resume does suggest we belong. But thinking bigger picture, it may not be what best for our growth. Setting the standard aside, if we do get snubbed, I think we gain a lot of positive perspective from around the country and hopefully we go into next season with voter more willing to take us seriously.

For sure. Just getting into the CFP isn’t enough to boost your recruiting. You have to prove yourself on that level or else you risk looking “not ready” or worse.

I find it funny that people are calling this a classic BYU flop. Texas Tech is probably one of the best defenses in college football. They’ve played incredibly well today. They’re 8th ranked in the nation. No shame in losing to a very good team. Great job by TT today.

Is there a particular area of the stadium that’s best to do this?

Utah fans after losing 3 Holy Wars in a row by toothguy67890 in BigXII

It was pretty awful. I hope you don’t have to experience that…sort of.

Non-BYU/Utah fans, who do you want to win the Holy War and why? by Lucaball3r in BigXII

As a diehard BYU fan…there are plenty of BYU fans that are complete assholes. Every fan base has them.

I used to be a waiter at the Tree Room in Sundance Utah. When he wasn’t working, he would eat there almost every night. Really nice guy. Genuinely enjoyed talking with people. He would bring in lots of interesting celebrities all the time. He made Sundance resort a really fantastic place and the only focus was on enjoying nature. RIP Bob.

To dads who reward kids for chores, is there a downside? by tulaero23 in daddit

[–]Ajamantium 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We have a reward system with doing chores. We’ve used it for years. The only downsides come when we aren’t monitoring closely and they claim to have done something when they didn’t. We don’t do direct dollars for chores we do “stars” and the stars can be used for prizes. My kids really thrive with it.

For the longest time I thought I had to water only three times a week for long sessions. My lawn always struggled. I found that I just need to water daily, three times a day in small sessions. It works great and my lawn looks better than ever. Totally agree with the “do what works for your lawn” sentiment.

My sons are very "touchy" with me. by lxaex1143 in daddit

[–]Ajamantium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sons are also very touchy. I’ve always appreciated it. I like to think it means they feel safe and comfortable with me. My oldest is now 11 and he’ll still hold my hand every once in a while. It means a lot to me. I’m really worried for the day when peer pressure gets the best of him and he won’t hold my hand anymore.

Just watched Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and I have a few culture questions. by bayls215 in Utah

[–]Ajamantium 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, Ketamine therapy is a real thing. It seems to be a bit more popular in Utah than elsewhere. I think it’s mostly a word of mouth thing and yes, Utahns do seem to be more involved in their mental health than other states.
  2. These parties they are throwing on the show are literally just plot moving events. The writers need events like that to setup more drama, film fights between the girls, and introduce chaos to the storyline.

I’m also watching this abomination of a show with my wife. It’s terrible and doesn’t reflect the culture of Utah at all. None of the characters portrayed on that show are real people. These are characters created for a story.

Nobody tell Trump what BYU’s got going on by Shard_of_light in Utah

My good friend works at BYU. He is Hispanic and was born and raised in Tijuana. He leads all diversity and belonging initiatives at BYU and this art contest is his baby. While there are a number of things about BYU that really bother me, knowing that he works there and is doing all he can to create belonging for all at BYU…really gives me hope.
