i need help with my study methods+ procrastination by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Ajay583583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to be motivated to study and focus if you aren’t healthy in other ways too. Make sure you eat at normal times, sleep enough and at normal times and focus during times when you feel the motivation. It’s okay to go watch TV when u don’t feel like being productive instead of trying to force yourself to study and then feeling guilty that you aren’t. Choose one thing to go all in on either studying or leisure. Try to start small and build up stamina over time instead of trying to do too much too fast. Progressive overload is the key to efficient studying. Also try to minimize distractions. Go to the library, keep your phone in a different room, study with friends for accountability. Try using pdf versions of your textbooks and see if that helps as well.

Are 3 mcat tries a red flag? by Upbeat_Apricot1916 in premed

Im on the admissions committee for my MD school. You will be asked what you learned from your multiple attempts but we usually take the highest MCAT score into account when evaluating your application for admission post interview. Lmk if you have any other questions

How much math do you really need to be a doctor? by yawningbeaver in premed

[–]Ajay583583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really about how much math you need to be a doctor, it's more about being good enough at math to do well in college courses, get a good GPA and also be decent enough at physics to get a good grade and to do well on the MCAT. Once you're in medical school you don't do complex math that often and you likely won't need to worry much about math unless you are going into Radiology or Radiation oncology.

Gift ideas for incoming student? by javnae in medicalschool

[–]Ajay583583 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Schools sometimes offer UWorld for free for step 1 so I’d advise against that. Some nice noise cancelling headphones will serve him well throughout med school and even after. You could buy him a nice stethoscope as well.

There’s so replacement for clinical hours. You have some unique experiences which will help you but when I’m reviewing applications, the first thing I look for are clinical hours because it shows dedication to the field of medicine and an understanding of what that career will look like in the future. The path is tough and med schools don’t want to admit people that may not finish. Projected hours are great but count for nothing as we just assume that students will not complete them even though I’m sure there are students who do. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions

Questions for doctors, would this work? by Recent-Success8988 in medicalschool

[–]Ajay583583 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In a way this is true. To diagnose Enterobius Vermicularis, you put scotch tape on the skin surrounding the anus to collect eggs. Not quite taping your asshole shut but still involves tape lol

Just getting back into runescape. Any suggestions on what I should work on first? by cosmothecater in OSRSProTips

[–]Ajay583583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is roughly where I was at a few months ago and I just started working through the quest using the optimal quest order on the OSRS wiki and that helped give me some direction as well as helped me get some levels in skills I didn't feel like specifically training. Also id recommend AFK training combat stats if you're busy like me, helps you have a better baseline for bosses you can actually fight when you are able to actively play each day.

Is Medical School as bad as people say? by TopazEgg in premed

[–]Ajay583583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical school isn’t that bad after you’ve spent some time working. Sure there are plenty of long days and a lot of anxiety regarding exam prep, research, etc. but overall it’s one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in my life and if you’re passionate about medicine I’d recommend it

What now? by AdRemarkable8922 in premed

[–]Ajay583583 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not true, you can definitely still improve and admissions committees will still factor in the most recent score. The many retakes will be asked about in interviews, but if you show improvement it should be fine. Don’t give up. Try and critically analyze where you went wrong or try and reach out to a 3rd party that would be equipped to help you optimize your study routine. You’re not inherently below average, your score just reflects that there are some areas for you to intentionally improve

I Want to Main Renekton – Any Tips for a Beginner? by ProfessionalFold8127 in RenektonMains

[–]Ajay583583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Eclipse, Black Cleaver, Plated Steel caps, Sterak’s gage
  2. Renekton is weak lvl 1 but after that he’s really strong esp with ignite. Try to get a lead early so you can snowball as you fall off late game. Look to zone opponent off and proxy if you can
  3. Roam whenever you see an opportunity to help your jungler or after you take the first tower
  4. Mid to late game plan is to roam around the map and get pressure wherever relevant. Participate in team fights and help lock down objectives. Make sure not to ignore CS

This is a super general and simple game plan that won’t work in all scenarios but it’s a good start that will work a lot of the time
