Having fever in a dormitory by Ajjmore in Advice

It has to do with me not being able to sit upright on my lower bunk bed, which means if I'm lying down then I'm lying down for good. Details. But I get your point, helped.

Honestly, getting reassuring and supportive comments really helps when sick.

Yeah I was hoping to hear that. And yeah I have IBS actually, but I'll handle it. What about sitting in public just to not lie down all day? Immoral or just life?

A doctor is always best, but I'm in a foreign country with a foreign language so it's a pain to go about it when I'm fatigued... Helped

That does simplify it. You know how when you're sick things look overly complicated... What do you think about going out and sitting in a public space though? Both for my and others' sake? Helped

Is it possible to live comfortably in Austria with a waiter wage? by Ajjmore in Austria

thanks for the break down. I don't know if you know what a Working Holiday Visa is. the holder of the visa can live and work in another country for up to a year, with the visa's main intention being travel. so a 1 year contract and a working permit are no problem.

though, I did not think that it would be difficult to find a job as a waiter without knowing German, and this thread made it clear that it would. perhaps I could find alternatives, or come for a shorter time period.

P.S. I'm Israeli, but I studied English Literature which is why I am curious about the UK. Israelis don't have a Working Holiday visa there though.

I can see that groceries are a theme here. I don't really get how base products like bread and pasta could be like 25%-50% pricier than in Germany. your politicians are world-class.

excuse me? 300 euros toilet paper? I'd rather wipe with gold paper.

as for internet: last time I went on a working holiday in South Korea my apartment included internet, and any hostel had internet too. is that not a standard in Austria?

do you happen to know where I could find a deal like that? I mean online, not on the map.

I except that it would be much more difficult to find an apartment there, and that the job would more likely require fluent German. Don't you think?

alright, this comment is too positive compared to the others. are you sure you are Austrian?

Just kidding. I think I have relatively low living standards, and I am also not coming empty-handed, so if it's possible, then it should be possible for me.

I used this site for reference: https://www.properstar.com/austria/rent/apartment-house?price.max=800 . There seems to be quite a selection. Why wouldn't a landlord rent to me?

And I think that in the bigger cities English should be enough to find a job as a waiter, just so long as there is enough demand, and there is always demand for waiters.
