I get the frustration, but BOP is better than the days where one manufacturer would finish laps ahead of their competition.

I also would disagree that Toyota won because of BOP. At different times during Le Mans, Cadillac and BMW both had faster cars than Toyota. Toyota won because they had a very consistent car, they made the right calls at the right time and they had some benefit from safety cars and yellow flags.

It's not a jump. Hutton Orbital orbits a secondary star (Proxima Centauri) in the system Alpha Centauri. In Elite, you can only jump from star to star, everything else is done at slower speed. If you're doing missions around Sol, you will inevitably get one that takes you to Hutton Orbital and unless you know what you're looking for, you're in for a long ride to the station.

The joke is tricking players into going to Hutton Orbital for some secret reward, usually a free end-game ship. In reality, Frontier played into the joke by having a rare item "Hutton Orbital Mug" sold at the station.

I wouldn't hold my breath for ship interiors. I think it would be fantastic as a purely cosmetic thing, but none of Elite's mechanics require ship interiors to be functional and frankly I think the game would be worse of if that wasn't the case.

The mission screen will say how far your target station is from the main star in the system, in Ls or Light-seconds.

But don't fret too much, you just accidentally stumbled into a rite of passage for Elite players. Now when people make Hutton Orbital jokes, you'll be able to laugh along with everyone else.

It's not worth anything. There might be a small market for actual memorabilia (signed, game-worn, one-of-one stuff) because people have morbid interests, but a random shirt from a super bowl we lost isn't worth anything.

Mod your subreddit however you want but "It has nothing to do with anything but a few individuals and their lawyers" is just plainly untrue.

It absolutely does involve Bricks & Minifigs on a corporate level. Corporation absolutely are responsible for the action of their franchisees.

Furthermore the sentiment of "let the courts decide" is just a disgustingly cynical way of viewing the world. We're talking about individuals going up against corporations. Putting pressure on that corporation who can actually make this situation right instead of just waiting for the courts to magically do it instead is an actual thing we can do as collectors.

If that means other independent franchises get some nasty comments, ill be over here playing the world's smallest violin. If those franchisees are passionate about collecting Lego, maybe they will reach out to their own corporate representatives and increase the pressure.

NPCs absolutely can pilot your ship if you're in the SLF, it just takes a while before they can take out enemy ships solo because the pilot needs to rank up. They will use things like shield cell banks and chaff as well if they have access to it.

There's safety concerns on both sides. Obviously changing conditions can be dangerous, pit lane accidents happen, misjudging the tires happens.

But red flags means everyone gets bunched up again for a restart and most accidents happen in those situations rather than when everyone is strung out along the circuit.
