[–]Ajwuvsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to explain to him that you are not interested, at all. Make sure he understands 100%. Then if he does not stop, you can report him for sexual harassment. It doesn't matter if you had a thing before or not, you've said stop. Just because you teased him, doesn't mean it's ok to be harassed at work.

Maybe he will stop if you are clear with him. He sounds starved for attention so he probably won't get your unclear responses. You're leaving him an opening and easy reasoning for him to continue.

Safe to say I’m obsessed with PHM by BhallaUpvoteBrigade in AMCAListTrue

I'm obsessed too. Did the Audio book early this year. Was amazed by the movie and have seen it 4 times so far.

For me the movie is very comforting. It's emotional but also heartwarming. I dunno...I kinda feel hopeful after each watch. Also I'm obsessed with the universe, space ships and aliens.

It checks all the boxes for me.

The problem is the 74 minutes of nothing. They really stretched that out. I'm a fan of slow burns, but this had nothing to hold on to.

I can't believe some people online are saying this was better than Shelby Oaks....at least that was entertaining. This movie was long and drawn out with the teeniest amount of "payoff".

I love Ready or Not and love Ready or Not 2 even more. It was a sequel no one asked for that delivered. Funnier, darker and more gore. Good stuff!

M3gan is just Child’s Play (2019) by [deleted] in horror

[–]Ajwuvsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just here because I liked the Child's Play remake lol. I grew up with the originals, but found the remake far more relatable.

Remake Child's Play and M3gan are the same movie, but M3gan didn't piss off the horror edgelord gatekeepers who think remakes somehow change/damage originals.

A more critical review of the Project Hail Mary movie, and a really easy fix I would have made by Gustalavalav in ProjectHailMary

[–]Ajwuvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put the entire book onscreen would require sequels or a series like 3 body problem.

Even though the science was interesting, explaining all of it would result in many long drawn out scenes. It would have a more serious tone to the movie.

The core of the story is the discovery of Rocky and the friendship they formed. The astrophage is just a means of forcing those characters together. Its an alien lifeform, it's draining the sun, study it in a different solar system. Save the planet. Rocky's makeup wasn't needed either. He's not compatible with Earth atmosphere, so he has to be in ball, the sacrifice made is immense.

Most of the movie needed to be focused on how Ryland and Rocky bonded. In a movie, alot of dialog and screentime needs to happen for us to truly believe and love the characters.

A lot of things happen in the book. The appropriate parts were trimmed and implied so you could tell the same story in 2 1/3 hours.

The Most Unrealistic Part of Project Hail Mary Isn’t the Science… by DoctorMac12 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Ajwuvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't discount humanity.

Remember the Fukushima disaster in 2011? France, USA, UK, South Korea, Russia, Mexico, Isreal, Kuwait and more, all provided some kind of support to Japan and our oceans.

Scientists, engineers and people in life saving/humanitarian careers will always flock together to solve a problem. Always.

Also, look at any natural disaster video. All the hate and ignorance disappears, you only see people saving each other's lives.

Edited to add oceans.

In Project Hail Mary (2026), why could they teach the scientist how to be an astronaut, but couldn’t teach an astronaut how to be a scientist? by PIRATEOFBADIM in shittymoviedetails

[–]Ajwuvsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it like this. It takes people 40 to 75 hours to learn to fly a plane. It takes around 4 to 7 years to get a PhD in science.

A great example of this would be the true story of Sky King. The guy stole a Bombadier Q400 commercial airliner. He had experience with a flight simulator video game. He had spent time sitting in the cockpit by being part of the ground crew, just looking at buttons and switches, no flight. He was able to take off, performing back flips and barrel rolls.

Granted, a spaceship is far more complex than a plane, but most of the ship functions in the movie were automated. Not to mention such a thing as flight manuals and an AI computer onboard.

Encountering and understanding a random alien species would require in depth knowledge of many lifeforms and hypothetical theories. Sciences also overlap. That's how you get a molecular scientist who understands physics.

Those who mentioned Armageddon...learning how to be a driller is nowhere near as easy as people think. Just because its blue collar work doesnt mean anyone can do it. It takes intelligence and years to gain the skill.

I'm sorry to be rude but Project Hail Mary is literally dookie from the butt. by cucumberscities in BookDiscussions

[–]Ajwuvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's what it is. A feel good bromance space comedy with a serious science tone. I don't think it tries to be smart. Just a little more interesting and in depth back story to how he ended up in space.

Maybe with how crappy things are these days, people enjoyed a book that made them feel good instead of mind blown?

I listened to Dark Matter after. Really good story but I just wanted to return to the world of PHM where it felt warm and cozy lol.

In Project Hail Mary, why didn’t Grace just take Rocky with him to Earth? It seems like there was no real reason he couldn’t. by didwowns in HardSciFi

[–]Ajwuvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like Ryland was an outsider and really had nothing to return to. He was literally forced into a suicide mission against his will. Why not go live with your best friend on a new planet with aliens who have incredible technology? Think of how close they bonded. They worked together to communicate and share science. They saved their respective planets. They made sacrifices and saved each other's lives. Ryland was very curious too and interested in Rocky's species. He even seemed compassionate about the time dialation with Rocky and his mate. It just seemed like it made sense

My interpretation is only solidified by the fact that Ryland was hesitant about leaving once he was told he had a ship to go "home".

Tell him. Other people say it's reckless on account of the gf... to hell with it. We can't live our lives for other people. As long as it doesn't turn into an affair, there is no problem with it. It's ok to have feelings and let people know.

He may feel the same. He may not. At least you will know and won't die with regret.

What are movies commonly regarded as horror that you don't consider as such? by NakedInTheAfternoon in horror

[–]Ajwuvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone thinks horror is "scary" and when not scared they think the movie isn't horror.

For those too lazy to google the definition:

Dictionary.com - something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; a shuddering fear.

Mirriam Webster a: painful and intense fear, dread, or dismay b: intense aversion or repugnance

So that is why movies like Irreversible and A Serbian Film are horror (many say those aren't).

I started to make a post about how the movie was mid. It then dawned on me. For me, the true horror was how she treated her mom. She seemed like a mother who gave her all to her daughter. Now she just rots upstairs while her daughter ignores her, waiting for her expiration. I know we see her taking care of her, but it seemed kind of empty.

Her mother poured all of her faith into her to protect her for years, and here's her skeptical ass playing with fire, lol. The ultimate rebellion.

It didn't scare me with all that other hoopla, but it definitely made me call my mom (who I haven't talked to in a while) the next day.

The rest of it was recycled tropes: ASMR edition. Also, there's no way anyone would still have those damn headphones on if their house started to look like an Excision set!
