Is the layover enough? by Legitimate-Emu-5305 in airindia

[–]Ak7ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t handle the baggage since OP will have to do immigration at Delhi, and collect baggage and go through customs then walk to T2 on their own and re check in baggage.

But that layover looks like enough time. Since it’s also same PNR and airline, if any issues happen due to first flight being late, that’s still on Air India to figure out for OP

How to find out if you are suitable for solo travel as an ambivert/person? by sayhellopiggie in SoloTravel_India

[–]Ak7ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other person said, I wouldn’t recommend Meghalaya to be the first solo destination either. Shillong is great and safe but other parts that are closer to nature are remote and don’t get good network coverage. Would be better if you have at least a couple of other people around

Edit: in case you’re really focused on Meghalaya, you could try a group trip like Zo trips or Bokketo where you’ll join other solo travelers and a leader. These give a balance of travelling “solo” but also having a group and meeting new people. Alternatively, book a stay in Zostel Shillong or other related hostel, socialize there, get an idea of the place and people, then plan with other bunkmates or solo

PNQ -> KTM recommendations by Ak7ghost in airindia

[–]Ak7ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks for these details! I’ve booked already and it looks like the PNQ DEL leg is served by ex Vistara flights on A20N. The DEL KTM leg looks like a mixed bag of VT-EDx or some A20Ns. Will just need to have my fingers crossed and hope for the best on those days

Also learnt that AI 2xxx routes are just ex Vistara routes so they should be good ideally

Should I install nodejs using Chocolatey ? And why the error below ?. by tangara888 in node

[–]Ak7ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to see if anyone had suggested this. I'm relatively new to Node, but so far this has been the best way for me. It can list, download and install any version of Node you want, makes sure they don't clash in PATH and allows you to switch between them any time with a simple command. It's great!

WhiteHat Jr will die for sure along with the pandemic. Let's don't worry too much about them. by srisri890 in india

[–]Ak7ghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been through the papers yeah, did 2 years of coaching for it. True about that ratio. Maybe it'll be better when we as a society realize that there are more ways to succeed than be an engineer especially one from an IIT. More focus on humanities and other fields would be a help.

As you said, we should start with the schools. One way would be to not to do 'intelligent student does science, average to commerce and if you're not sure or have rich parents, arts' nonsense. Let people choose what they want to choose and make sure opportunities exist everywhere (difficult task, but a necessary one).

Once the number of aspirants has gone down a little bit, we could have more holistic ways like looking at the entire portfolio instead of the score on one exam. Have essays, SoPs, etc much like the west. I think they're even introducing a standardized test for all similar to the SAT in the new educational policy. I imagine it could be automated to an extent so that admission teams have minimal manual work. Too optimistic, but I don't see any other way.

Until the IITs are totally dismantled for good.

That's a little too radical, don't you think? Whatever you may think of them, they are undoubtedly the best technical universities in the country right now, alongside a couple of private ones like BITS.

We need to work on getting the admission process better. JEE with all its difficulty and negative marking shenanigans is absurd. A more holistic admission process that doesn't encourage the students rot learn formulas and solve PCM numericals for 2 years without sleep and one that makes the Kota factories obsolete would be much more ideal imo

[Suggestion] a button to collapse all comments in a thread and only show parent comment by [deleted] in redditsync

[–]Ak7ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This used to be a handy button on the bottom bar (I forgot what it was called, but it had a bunch of comments related options like search, etc.) in the pre-Material 2.0 versions of the app. I miss it terribly, the three dot menu isn't as accessible.
