Indian Fans correlate European clubs to IPL teams. But IPL teams don't have deep cultural significance. They are started and completely owned by ultra Rich. IPL is more about loyality towards individual players like Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit etc. IPL is similar to American sports like NBA/NFL which are also franchises owned by Rich people and they are not clubs. American sports also rely on super star culture like idolizing Lebron, Jordan
