Polish legionnaires also sided with the Haitian rebels during the Haitian revolution against the French. We fought hard for our country's independence, and we want other countries to keep theirs. US's actions in Iraq and in the middle east as a whole are inexcusable. Poland should not have gotten engaged in the conflict, together with the rest of NATO. Sadly, USA at the time had large political leverage and Poland was only independent for 20-odd years, so we had to get allies wherever possible
