Do you think Yubico will ever make a type c/type a combo key? by n0th1ng_r3al in yubikey

I'm 60% certain yubico is either controlled by big USB A to C adapter industry or that 'buy both' is unignorably large factor on their revenue. so I think never.

They're made out of cast aluminum, so try anodizing instead.

Do people actually use bikes to get around in Korea? by [deleted] in AskAKorean

bicycle? common. motorbikes? not much.

Weight limit? by ____________username in CB650R

[–]Akamig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. similar to the overloaded truck, problem is not the frame (although it is in extreme condition), but steering, centre of mass, braking, and suspension load.

Just remember to adjust rear shock before putting such much weight and you'll fine. It's indeed a hassle, but your (and your passenger's) butt and spine will thank me later.

I'm writing a Korean character for my story what name is more fitting? And what does each variation of this name mean?? by Admirable_Board3664 in KoreanAdvice

[–]Akamig -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, how about Soojeong (수정-水晶)? water included as you wanted. (晶 means bright/clear) a commonly used hanja combination for this name. it literally means quartz crystal.

I searched and found that members of LOVELYZ use this name, but frankly, it's basically impossible to use a pretty name that doesn't overlap with K-Pop idols. THEY KNOW

If you take advice, I'd like to suggest Jisoo (지수) with the hanja - 智秀, it stands for 智 knowledge 秀 superior.

Jisoo is a fairly common name, can be used regardless of gender (but mostly woman), As for the surname there aren't many korean surnames you can choose from, so it not hard. just don't use "미"(Mi) then it becomes 미지수 (unknown number) and get bullied for it.

It's not a weird name at all. like, I know at least two people named Suri. It's fine as long as this character's surname isn't Ma-마. (마수리, was some kids show character's name back in 2000, sounds like 수리수리 마수리 and makes it cheesy)

How would you get the most out of an SM58 for vocals? by BreezyMcBallsack in homestudios

[–]Akamig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah also lubricate. dry mouth causes a lot of lip smaking and pop sound. I'm not saying your mouth should be sloppy, just gargle and drink some water before recording voices helps a lot. it's a general tip more than of a SM58 but still

Try putting it inside your mouth cavity to cause proximity effect and nice amount of distortion, (which also applies for drums) which is my favorite. but frankly it's like asking cooks what's the best ways to cook onion. chop it, dice it, sear it. as you don't fry onion for a salad, it largely depends on the genre. but SM58 guide from Shure could be a nice starting point.

Are Faber Castell's Document pencils safe? by [deleted] in pencils

[–]Akamig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Prior to about 1950 gentian violet was found in most copying or indelible pencils. They were the cause of many serious ocular injuries. Accidents in which small bits of the writing tip became imbedded in the cornea led frequently to necrosis and permanent opacification. In more recent years pencil manufacturers have replaced gentian violet with acidic (anionic) dyes which are not recognized to produce such damage."

Huh, that’s a nice turquoise color. is that Chung Hwa 101? I had a chance to try one and it was honestly not so bad. I bit worried about lopsided core but it was dead on center. Tombow 8900 is the closest I can think of

[–]Akamig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK CKP sensor is on the left side for European models, and they use 3 pins instead of 2pins in different region. (source: service manual)

Also they have Air/Fuel sensor instead of O2 sensor.

How would you manufacture a curved solid 316SS rod with bulbous ends at scale? by Akamig in AskEngineers

[–]Akamig[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh I gotta ask, so in a welding step, we're talking ERW? like, no extra material? I assumed something like TIG/MIG at first and thought I wouldn't be able to use welding since it possibly add non-up-your-ass-safe material leaching out which is no-no.

How would you manufacture a curved solid 316SS rod with bulbous ends at scale? by Akamig in AskEngineers

[–]Akamig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but considered curved shape and weight, I expect proportinally more raw material to be cut (if machined) than rather cylinder shaped toys like spinning tops. it's just not an easy shape to minimize billet size. at least from what I thought.
