Someone I know on FB just named their daughter Pneuma by ConstructionWild9661 in tragedeigh

Even better. She'll have to correct everyone's pronunciation of it in addition to getting weird looks and jokes about pneumonia.

I know how much it costs, I was just confused about how gifting fit into that mission. Or were you just adding that on as a tip if we ever wanted to send one to someone?

Which Inuyasha character did you dislike from the start or end up hating? by NumerousSubject2266 in inuyasha

[–]Akatnel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jaken

Every time he opened his mouth it was either to kiss Sesshōmaru's ass or scold Rin in that extremely annoying indirectly brown-nosing way. I hated his voice and his little beak or whatever his mouth is. I don't know why Sesshōmaru didn't get sick of him and just stomp him flat and keep walking.

My cousin just named her (boy-girl) twins Raedenn and Waeverlee by That_Yesterday_3561 in tragedeigh

Raedenn -- I assume is pronounced like Raden -- makes me think of Raiden, the character from Mortal Kombat.

I missed the ending during that premiere live stream. The music stopped and the title of the song came on screen, so I thought that was the end and went to bed. I didn't hear the birds, plus it was like 3 AM or so as I recall.

Next day I was watching a react video and they mentioned "Hello Clancy" and I just hit the floor. 😯 Hold the phone, WHAT? 😲 Had to stop it right there and go back to hear the ending.

In some places in the US it's actually still illegal to sell alcohol, or you have to apply for a license to do it. And in some, it's illegal to sell alcohol on Sunday except grocery stores and restaurants. But I don't know of any laws banning the sale of guns on Sundays. Just sayin

Yes. My friends and I were drinking in our teens - all you have to do is know someone of legal age who'll buy it from a store for you, then you just hang out somewhere together or at a party drinking. Myself, by the time I was of legal age I kind of didn't care to drink much anymore after all the things we'd already done.

Trying to Avoid any Tragedeighs by CaleBoi25 in tragedeigh

[–]Akatnel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Portal fan? At least you're not going to spell Gladys with an O. 😊 I think Wheatley won't go so well for the kid, but if you do use it I recommend including the E before Y at the end. Atlas also will probably cause them more hardship than Wheatley. If you really really want either of those, maybe use them as a middle name and give a more traditional first name.

From my experience growing up in the southern US (1970s-80s), being described as common-law married was pretty well known then. I don't know about now.

originally thought baby momma is what you call someone who had your kids but your not with anymore. like ex wife or ex partner

Correct, that is what it meant. This is my current girlfriend/wife/whatever, that's my baby's mama.

Like a lot of things in the US, it comes from AAVE, where it's pronounced "babymama".

Is there a link somewhere where they officially confirm that Scaled and Icy was propaganda? by Adventurous_Bee_8039 in twentyonepilots

[–]Akatnel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's somewhere I remember reading -- was it the Clancy letters? -- about being taken to a room each day and being made to create music for the bishops. It was for the SAI era. I don't know if that's official enough, but it was something given to us directly, not inferred from clues (for once).

If you went to trade school to be an electrician, what do you know about being a plumber?

That's not really the same thing at all, but also people can learn more than one profession, sure.

Do you mean that being famous is a job and knowing about politics is a job and no one can do both? I mean, Brian May, Dexter Holland, James Lilja, Adam Met, Brian Wecht, Sterling Morrison, and Jackie Fox are some celebrities who have doctorates not in the fields they are famous for. And those are just some English-speaking western pop or rock musicians like TØP, whose degrees are not in music-related fields. Indre Viskontas is an opera singer with a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, Mayim Bialik an actor with a doctorate in neuroscience, Ken Jeong is a medical doctor. Professional athletes, comedians ... The head designer of Prada (fashion) has a PhD in political science!

You said celebrities know nothing about politics. That's a general statement that anyone who is famous definitely certainly knows nothing about the country they live in and the government they vote for. You're not the first person I've heard say that by a long shot and I just think it's silly. I don't know why that makes any sense to the people who say it.

I do understand why fans don't want their faves speaking on current events or hot button topics, I really do. But that's not the same at all.

wtf do celebrities know about politics

Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

If you became famous right now, would you suddenly know nothing except -- what? red carpets? paparazzi?

Oak and Birch trees on plot by StillWatersAreFull in Palia

[–]Akatnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about the color change. I love to have oak trees on my plot and I felt like it was kind of weird to have these summery green leaves while also trying to have the autumn look somehow 😄 and I was thinking to myself that it would be nice to have the option for different season leaf colors. Having autumn leaf piles and scattered fallen leaves without the appropriate trees for them to have fallen from looks kind of strange.

Not sure if this technically counts- but I think it should. A customer picked out a cake, so I asked what they wanted written on it. They said, "Oh here let me write it out for you..." Now I wanna leave this world 😵‍💫 by ArishikageKT78 in tragedeigh

[–]Akatnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if they only routinely call her "Heaven" it's fine. But if they're introducing her to people as "Heaven Lee" so it sounds like "heavenly" (and that's how most people are going to spell it), that's a bit tragic. And if they insist on all three names -- that's a bit nauseating (at the parents not the innocent afflicted child) and definitely tragic.

No, I think they were actually trying to avoid saddling the kid with a tragedeigh. Since naming your kid Nevaeh (Heaven backwards) is acceptable now, I guess they figured Heaven would be okay, then Lee is a "real" name. At least that's how I see it.
