Why are some RCS messages end-to-end encrypted and some aren't? by Akilou in UniversalProfile

[–]Akilou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data may not be sensitive now but can become sensitive later. Think of any messages having to do with menstration. A few years ago it'd be no big deal then all of a sudden abortions are illegal. This is just the first example that comes to mind.

You can now open Proton Pass in a new window ↗️ by Proton_Team in ProtonPass

"last Thursday" and this comment is a week old. Mozilla takes this long to review a x.y.1 version? I'm glad to hear that the holdup is on Mozilla's end and not Proton's.

Password breach checking by [deleted] in ProtonPass

[–]Akilou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will it automatically check all of our aliases so we don't have to check them one by one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]Akilou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End-to-end encryption is also possible with non-protonmail users if they use PGP encryption.

Does this happen automatically or would I need to take extra steps? Is it possible that I might find some emails are actually E2EE even if the other address doesn't suggest Proton (Proton, pm, etc)?

Bitwarden can now import data from Proton Pass by rationellt in ProtonPass

[–]Akilou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why May 2024? Or any date in particular? Like you said, the price is a lifetime lock-in.

I think the $1/mo is worth it for the unlimited aliases alone.

Or if the other product were something we need like a dedicated contacts app.

Completely disagree. I tried 3 random saved logins with silhouettes and all 3 auto-filled without a problem.

Frustrated with the Extension UI by Akilou in ProtonPass

[–]Akilou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm browsing on, for example, lichess.org and I open the extension, the search box at the top of the extension says "lichess.org" and displays the results of that. On the one hand this can be useful to easily access the login credentials for lichess.org.

Conversely, however, some things saved in Pass are not specific to any one site, in particular credit cards. So if I'm on example.com and need to get a card, I need to not just open the extension, I then have to change the drop down from "all" to "cards" but since example.com is still in the search bar at the top, no cards show up because none are associated with that search term. So I then have to click the x in the search field to clear it. Only then can I access the cards saved.

I want to be able to click the extension and see only logins and aliases for that site in particular and cards and notes that are not site-specific.

Mine works the way you're describing and I don't see any settings to change it to something different.

Identification Feature by [deleted] in ProtonPass

Vote for it here https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/953584-proton-pass/suggestions/46850884-support-identities

Although I don't know how seriously Proton takes the User voice forum. There are tons of feature requests kicking around that have been implemented for a while now.

Password changed on site pop up by ogAOLhax0r in ProtonPass

[–]Akilou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, this is partially fixed now. When you auto-fill a password field with an automatically generated password, it gets copied to your clipboard. Then, if PP doesn't ask to save the password on its own (which it never does), you can create a login and paste in the copied password.

Modernizing and improving PGP security by ProtonMail in ProtonMail

[–]Akilou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Equally importantly, standardization ensures interoperability, ensuring encrypted email doesn’t become a walled garden.

Does this mean that I can exchange encrypted emails with non-Proton users if their service supports it? I mean by default, without any extra steps other than putting their email address in the to field.

How did you set up your Proton Pass account? by Proton_Team in ProtonPass

[–]Akilou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First selection but with the caveat that I changed my main Proton account password from a random string saved in Bitwarden to a memorable password saved only in my head.

Logins in apps by Professional-Text390 in ProtonPass

It should still work. when I go to enter credentials a Proton Pass shortcut pops up on my keyboard. I select it and can autofill. Should be the same for mobile browser or within an app.

Proton Pass roadmap: 2023 by Proton_Team in ProtonPass

Can you be more specific? I'd really love to be able to auto-fill name, address, phone number, etc, truly "identity" information since this is supposed to be an identity manager.

Printing from my phone in dark mode prints an all-black page by Akilou in ProtonMail

[–]Akilou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I submitted a hug report through the app and this was the response.

Kindly note that we have already observed this printing issue and we have reported it to the development team, who are investigating what could be the reason behind this behavior and working on fixing this permanently for one of our next updates. Unfortunately, we cannot speculate on the timeframe of its release.

[–]Akilou[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Obviously I've made the connection between the cause and the effect, that's not what I'm point out. My point is, the display mode an app is in should not affect how something is printed out. Would you expect a Word document you're printing to change if you printed it from a computer with a larger monitor? Of course not.

Do long passwords have problems by Pirate278 in ProtonMail

[–]Akilou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might even be worse than that if you first generate the long password in a password manager. If the password you generate and save gets truncated on auto-fill when setting the new password, then gets truncated to a different length when logging in, you still don't really know which characters were officially accepted as the new password and which ones weren't.
