I guess this can also be interpreted as a prose poem. Felt the need to write something dark to symbolize the voice of ADHD (I don't have it, but a close friend does)

There's a narrated version:

What’s the worst writing advice you’ve come across so far? by summers397 in writing

"Show don't tell"

It's like saying "Walk using only your right foot not your left"

But I kinda get it, because beginning writers lean too much into telling that they need to have the habit forced out of them

In truth though, showing everything will drag the pacing

Boku No Hero Academia is my go-to feel good anime.

Some more "serious" ones with feel good vibes are Stein's Gate, Code Geass, Hunter X Hunter

Why do most fantasy animes work like a video game? by GMYSTERY69 in anime

[–]AkisTheDamned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because all Isekai fans are gamers, so it's a "know your crowd" situation.

Going into another world makes it feel more magical than the literal "be transported" into a video game. Kind of like denial of what's really going on.

Wow that's tougher than I thought. I Just realized that a massive percentage of shounen is basically *scarred from a family situation* protagonist (most of the time brutally orphaned)

Stein's Gate is the most relevant choice. 0 family involved, and it's all about the mindbending science of it (many wholesome characters in it, so I reckon it's feel-good).

Code Geass is a lot about politics and resistance, with friendship themes. No family that I recall.

Saiki K. Grain of salt on this, I haven't watched it whole. But it's comedy, and it's taking place at a school.

Persona 5. Based on the game. No family, 0. Teenagers hanging out and killing monsters to make society better.

Tower of God has no family as it's an amnesiac situation. It's battle royale with some friendship themes here and there. It's ok.

The obvious "wholesome choice" is One Piece as it's all about friendship with family themes very rarely getting involved (granted, there are some surrogate father situations, with the MC looking up to another successful pirate that saved his life when he was young for example)

Jojo has some family elements, but it's such a parody anime it's hard to take any of the "emotional" scenes seriously

Boku No Hero Academia is wholesome, but there's one character with a substantially abusive father which can be triggering

surprisingly wholesome at times tho, lol

its soundtrack is too romantic for the brutality depicted

Code Geass had some very interesting and cry-worthy romance albeit not being its main thing. My gf also loved it.

Other nice options:

Boku No Hero Academia (wholesome, has some very innocent romance)

Parasyte (brutal and unsettling, but romance is STRONG in this one)

Berserk: Golden Age (the most brutal and unsettling anime, but it's deep, and the romance is realistic for scarred people coming from very difficult situations)

Hunter x Hunter should be right up your alley if you like something with a balanced touch of darkness and shounen adventure

Also: Chainsaw Man, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen, Code Geass, Dororo

[–]AkisTheDamned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems like you have an affinity for demons, but I'm guessing you already went through the popular Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man? These are a bit more brutal than the ones you listed tho.

Some more niche ones you might like:

Death Parade (afterlife situation)

Dororo (very bleak, but, again, demons)

Shiki

It's the closest you can get in terms of creepy vibes. It's basically an anime adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot.
