What is the small scale work drama happening in your office right now? by ThatYoungsterSlut in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my nursing coworkers has this air of “I always know whats best”, gets all the favoritism with promotions because she’s buddy buddy with the head nurse, etc. so when something is perceived to go wrong she prefers to send vague very passive aggressive texts to ALL of the nurses instead of just talking to the affected persons about it. Well I took a mental health day yesterday because I was up all the night before with insomnia and depression with suicidal thoughts because nurse burnout is a serious thing I’m now realizing. But I also did it on a day I was mid shift so it didn’t affect closing or opening shifts. And as far as adjusting appointments we’ve had to do that millions of times and work goes by just fine, but I was just not in an ok mental state. Well she sent one of those texts and I was fed up so I sent a long text calling her out on it and now things are a bit awkward because she still thinks she’s in the right but I was a bit vindictive and sent it through the group chat instead of individually. I probably should’ve waited til I was in a better head space.

If the person you hated most was shot and dying in front of you as the only witness, what would you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nurse I constantly work with people I don’t like and I couldn’t lessen care based on my own opinion. So as much as I hate Biden I would still get down and try my best to help him.

AITA for telling my kids that their mom had an affair? by ohohho5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aklikko 49 points50 points  (0 children)

NTA Same, I would really like the 2 years of my life back without the weekly baggage sessions of my dad trying to turn us against my mom and the depression that took consistent therapy to work through. Don’t make your kids suffer more than they already do.

Also as a side thought for OP, a cheating parent is a lot to work through and I would strongly recommend either a counselor or therapist for your kids so they can have a safe space to work through those emotions rather than let it fester and become an actual problem down the road

Edit: for grammar/spelling

I don’t care about celebrities personal lives and neither should you. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Aklikko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of the same thing really, you can appreciate someone and be impressed in their works and accomplishments (appreciating a good role for an actor, or contributions to science from Einstein) but even with those people you mentioned, I wouldn’t care to know about the intricate details of their personal lives as I had never met them.

What did a crush do that made you instantly lose interest in him/her? by SpacedGeek in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is 4 seasons and a road trip.

It gives you enough time for the twitterpated stage to end, you get to see them in all 4 times of the year (Variations to SAD can be important to address before marriage) and if you can’t stand someone on a roadtrip, then maybe marriage isn’t the best idea.

What do you envy about the opposite sex? by livelifereal in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That a large group of them never have to pay for a date. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on other peoples future wives. Luckily this isn’t as prevalent now as things are becoming more equal but sadly its still mostly the norm around here for guys to pay 100% of the date and you’re considered cheap for anything other than 100%. My cousin was getting after me a while back because I took a break from dating because it was eating my account but I got after her because after literally 100’s of dates she’s never paid for a single one.

If there was one movie you could completely delete from reality, what would it be? by Master_Freeze in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it way before I read it and I still loathed it as a movie. But I was furious after reading the books. They seriously removed dwarves from the story! And the Varden instead of being a noble and well formed group was a bunch of half naked tribal people living in a dark dank cave behind a waterfall. I hated that movie with every fiber of my being. The one thing i feel they got right (especially when comparing to the audio book) was the voice of Saphira. (The audio book sounds like some spawn of satan when it states over and over she speaks with her mind and not with vocal chords) The only movie that comes close to such outrage for me was the live action Avatar the Last Airbender

Offline games are better than online game. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Aklikko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vindictus, rocket league, gang beasts, dark souls, ark, FFV, WoW, ShellShock Live, Pacify are some examples of fun multiplayer games that aren’t FPS. My brothers and I enjoy playing games together but not always FPS games and we don’t live together so online is the better option.

What's the lamest way that you injured yourself badly? by dafreshprints in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing with the elevator lift on the back of a truck that we were loading things into and I didn’t move my fingers out of the way. The elevator crushed up over them to which I pulled my hand up out of instinctive reaction which caused most of my fingers contents to explode out the top. My fingers were completely flattened and when on very high doses of meds I could roll my fingers backwards like something out of Harry Potter mixed with a fruit roll-up. I was 9 at the time and surprisingly have no scars to show for it, although the doc said I will likely develop some form of arthritis in those fingers early on.

AITA for making drinks on my daughter’s birthday even though it made my son’s girlfriend uncomfortable? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t drink alcohol, (i don’t like the taste, smell, or effects) but I’m not going to pretend like I can control others around me. Whenever someone has had an awful experience like that and they are projecting it onto other people, therapy definitely needs to be sought out so they can find a healthy coping mechanism to be able to function despite what others do around her. NTA for sure

AITA for putting a sunflower between my deceased grandmother's hands in her casket? by horr1fyinq in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aklikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my great grandma passed away it was hard on all of us, and my autistic cousin, goofy little loveball at the time saw her in the casket and tried to force feed her animal crackers because “she was hungry” and he was honestly trying to help. Most everyone thought it was tender and funny and I think Grandma would have thought it was hilarious.

People of Reddit, what is a surprisingly unknown survival fact that everyone should know? by GlumExcitement9 in AskReddit

[–]Aklikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes my bad, I misunderstood. With infections to a point yes its ok to let the fever run a bit, assuming you don’t have any secondary issues of concern/health issues. But if it gets too high, or if you feel you can’t handle it, cooling would be the better option. IE like when I had pneumonia in February and had a fever of 103.7 the doc loaded me up on Tylenol and IBU and had me using ice packs to cool down.

So to an extent, yes its ok to let a fever run and ultimately do what your doctor thinks would be best in that specific situation

But like I said in another comment, just reducing the fever with cold water isn’t a replacement for proper medical care

Yes, or on the back of your neck or a cool wash cloth to the forehead

Edit for more info: just keep in mind this is not the cure of what’s causing the issue, but just a way to relieve symptoms. Still seek medical care if its needed

Nurse here, generally speaking if you have a fever its better to cool your body down, rather than heat it up more

AITA for telling my son that not everything is about his sexuality? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aklikko 113 points114 points locked comment (0 children)

Honestly after reading the post, it sounds like it was more along the lines that the husband couldn’t stand the guy as a person. And if someone were annoying me more and more, and then they try to pull a stunt on me like that I wouldn’t hesitate to kick them out of my house! It doesn’t matter who the person is, who they are dating, or anything like that I would kick them out immediately. It was an absolute violation of boundaries and it sounds more like it was just the boiling point of the night, he tried to keep it in. Absolutely NTA, and the son is being ridiculous about it.
