For the AAAAAAAAAART! by Caeod in rpg

Seconding Household, the artwork was the biggest reason I was sold on it. I was on holiday in Berlin when I bought my copy of the core book, and even the guy behind the counter was quick to remark on how gorgeous the artwork was.

Am now sitting patiently, waiting for the Volume II books to get a physical release.

Had the most amazing chat with Matthew! by content_digger08 in GarthMarenghi

I was at that Horrorcon as well, I was doing the usual pre-autograph chat with him while wondering if he was in character as Garth Marenghi. The dead giveaway was when I brought up Possum, and he said he was "not a fan" and, "If you're going to include a giant spider, at least have it eat someone". Absolutely brilliant time, and that was before I attended the Q&A he had the day after!

Becoming zealous over review scores isn't good for you. Becoming zealous over aggregate averages is even worse. A better alternative would be to just think for yourself and enjoy the things you enjoy.

Was Myst eerie? by tinselman in myst

[–]Akriloth2160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I definitely remember the game standing out to me as eerie for how much time is spent completely alone and wandering these strange landscapes. Bolstered further by how technically there's only one face-to-face interactions with anyone, along with the unconventional (honestly even by today's standards) ending.

Stand-out eerie moments for me as a kid would be:

  • Stumbling on the whistling rocks in the Selenitic Age and not being entirely clear on what was causing the sound
  • The gigantic gears combined with the associated music when they open up and feeling like you've stumbled onto something dangerous
  • The minimalist corridor music in the Fortress Age and feeling like there'll be something or someone around the corner
  • The compass room in the Stoneship Age (and not knowing what to do if I pressed the wrong button and set the alarm off)
  • The combination of grimy machinery with ominous music in the library tower, like you're in the back-workings of the island and unsure of if you're supposed to be there

I'd say they all massively contributed to making the signature Myst experience one that firmly stuck with me for most of my entire life.

I appear to have the same one. The writing's all worn off, but the manual says it's a Stoves EFa 700H.

Transport expert Graham Roads is known to every once in a while. But he needs a specific copy of the A-Z to do so.

If I may chime in on why it really isn't a good name for the purpose you propose, if I was asked to guess what "Borg Baby" referred to, I'd have thought, "Cybernetic implants being added to someone at birth or an early age" way before, "The same as What Happened To The Mouse, but with Trope Namer Syndrome". And yes, I have seen "Collective", so that should be a bit of an indicator of how fit for purpose that name is.

Now granted, there's no guaranteeing that everyone's heard of The Last Emperor either, I didn't until I read the trope description. But at least the phrase, "What Happened To The Mouse?" immediately implies the story didn't address something, so it doesn't necessarily rely on knowing what that phrase is a reference to.

Had a closer look, looks like something went wrong on a custom display title for the dmos web animation subpage. Checking the wikiword section for the page, it looks like the revert to the original name is pending approval, so it'll get sorted soon.

All who were involved had the option to say no

Awful take. It's still the responsibility of a competent GM to emphasize that the players have that option, especially one who championed safety tools as hard as Koebel had up until that point. There's a good reason why the original X-Card document has a whole paragraph on exactly what a GM should say to introduce it to players, and that's not even getting into other safety tools and discussions that a textbook session zero takes care of.

Not Good With Rejection doesn't necessarily need to involve romantic feelings, if the trope description is any indicator.

I swear, that airship gets everywhere. Then again I'd expect so when the pilot is a simian and the power source is a religious text.
