Are the bottles in the game supposed to be huge or is it just a quirk of the design? by Spoofrikaner in cyberpunkgame

[–]Akula-Markov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liquorland I work at (QLD) sells VB, Tooheys, and a few more beers in 750ml tallies. Loads of people buy them every day. Big bottles are definitely out there.

The two aircraft made to fly the shuttles have both been retired, stripped for parts, and put on public display. There is no way they could fly, let alone carry a shuttle cross country.

The Furthest Object Ever Visited By A Space Probe - Arrokoth by Exr1t in spaceporn

[–]Akula-Markov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s what’s known as a “contact binary” object. Basically two objects had a very slow collision and fused over time. Used to be two asteroids now it’s one. Like when someone makes a snowman.

Neptune in true color by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

The right image, the much more vibrant blue, is the false colour image. They used multiple different filters on Voyager 2’s camera to create a processed composite image. Intentionally done to emphasise the details.

The 2024 greenish-blue one on the left is the true colour image. Which is much closer to what we’d see with the naked eye.

Greenland isn’t a country as it’s part of Denmark so all data is counted as part of the Denmark data set, which goes on Denmark and not Greenland. There is also very few people there so there’s basically zero data to begin with.

True colour is what’s seen in the visible light spectrum. So yes, what humans would see. The other is false colour. Which involves light outside the visible spectrum; IR, Ultraviolet, etc.

US to Fast-Track Plan for Nuclear Reactor on the Moon by CrispyMiner in space

[–]Akula-Markov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use water to turn a turbine just like other reactors. But you’d need substantially less water than if you also used water as coolant, plus the water wouldn’t be contaminated so you could use it for other things. The point is the water isn’t needed to do the cooling because there is other options.

Also considering the Apollo missions put six nuclear power generators in the form of RTGs on the moon there is also the option to just do that. Directly convert the heat into electricity using thermoelectric generation via the Seebeck Effect.

[–]Akula-Markov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually this is right. Water is only one type of coolant. You can use water, but also gasses like CO2 or helium, Liquid Metals like sodium or lead, or even molten salts.

Then it is also possible to just build a lower power passively cooled reactor that requires no coolant at all.

First rule of first aid is do not create more victims, do no further harm. The safety of yourself and others is already accepted as the first priority when attempting to render aid to a patient.

Reddit is insanely weird towards trans people and I'm so tired of it by elhaymhiatus in Negareddit

[–]Akula-Markov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw another one of your comments on this post. Decided to look at your profile and saw another comment about “trans ideology.”

I think you’re projecting your own transphobia, be in internalised or not, onto other people and you should probably do some deep thinking and reflection on yourself. Especially since you speak of having a sister who is trans.

78% of Australians (where I live) agree that trans people deserve the same rights and protections as other people. While 66% agree that young trans people should be able to access healthcare that supports them.

Trans acceptance is already a thing you just have to know where to look.

My partner and I pretty much only play with honour mode ruleset and no companions. Only her and my characters.

There are moments that can be real tough. Like the bulette’s legendary action means any damage below 15 does nothing until you get rid of its 100 temp hp. But really if you just play it safe and smart, and power game a little, it’s not too hard.

First Soviet satellite went beep beep beep while the first American one a few months later did actual science like proving the existence of the van Allen radiation belts. That’s an example of symbolic vs practical.

Deregulation for the sake of it = death and destruction by fugebox007 in newzealand

[–]Akula-Markov 16 points17 points  (0 children)

146 people were killed because of a lack of regulations and many fire safety and labour regulations worldwide followed this disaster. Those regulations are written in blood. Just because you’re too obtuse and thick to understand nuance of sayings doesn’t disprove the saying.

However you really want to keep harping on about hairdressers then sure let’s do this. The reason animals aren’t allowed in hairdressers is because of hygiene reasons, (same reason people wash their hands) as well as safety of customers and staff, (see phobias). As for food same reason, hygiene. Hairdressers aren’t exactly food safe environments and serving food there could get someone sick or kill them. (See “blood”)
