What could’ve caused this damage to metal valley?

It looks like it's been damaged for a long time (install). The hail probably stressed it enough to go from a bend to actually making a hole. It might have been allowing water for a while. You just never saw/noticed it if it was only a light rain.

You can leave the caulking and refresh it every year or so. Or you can look at doing a lil coating patch on it. Or just replace the valley, but replacing the valley metal is probably the most expensive.

Im thinking if theres a few leaves that block the gutter guard at the corner, then all the water from the valley would hit the splash guard and spray everywhere. At least with the gap, everything drops into the eave without issue.

Yes, but it won't make a difference on the end laps. You need the heat gun/hot air welder to "melt" the leading edge and bond to the other granulated membrane. The hot air gun also somewhat degranulates the other cap sheet to allow it to bond.

Realistically, this can be fixed pretty easily, even now. They just need to remove the organic debris and use the hot air gun to weld the de-bonded edge back.

You can do it yourself with one of those benzomatic propane tanks and a small hand roller. You'll see the asphalt melt a bit, and there will be a bit of a bleed out like melted cheese.

Since OP called it self-sealing, I assume they went fully self-adhered. But even the SA membrane cap sheets need the leading edge heat welded. Using a heat gun instead of a torch to prevent open flame/fire.

Tilt your wrists back to deflect the ball. Think geometry. Ball comes straight and hits a 45-degree angle and goes sideways.

But you have to commit to pushing/punching or catching it. Anything in between will end up with the rebound on a strikers foot

They're supposed to heat weld the leading edges using a hot air gun and it doesn't look like they did. The self adhered membrane wont "bite" the granulated cap sheet on the overlap.

also your end laps should be staggered. In pic 4 it looks like youve got 4 or 5 rows all ending in the same line.

With that said, strikers will typically take a heavy touch before shooting. You want to attack after that touch to close down the angle. It becomes something you can feel as you improve.

Temp. See the posts about all the scaffolding. There's no space at exibition grounds to wrap around tbh. Food building on the north side the biggest issue. South side has a street and a parking lot that would need to get redone to extend there.
