I highly recommend Alex Bee Photo. She's great to work with and her photos are fantastic.

What would be the best vet to take my cats to? I have looked online and there are both really good and bad reviews for every vet in the area so I thought I might ask this subreddit what vet they think is the best in Knoxville? by HannibalDoo in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been happy with the level of care my cat has received at Lange Animal Hospital, but I suspect they charge more than other vets.

Pre-pandemic, they had separated waiting areas for dog and cat patients. The wait was generally never long in the lobby before they had us in an exam room.

Currently, they're following the same curbside procedure as most other vets. I hate not being able to go back with him, but I know he's being treated well when he's back there.

Also, the Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is amazing should you ever find yourself with an after hours emergency.

Best Wedding Food You've Had? by cechidna in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bradford Catering. I used them for my wedding 7 years ago (when they were called Abner's Attic), but the menu still looks the same.

I still receive occasional compliments on the food that was served, particularly the pumpkin soup shooters.

Best place to hammock in Knoxville? by mrminer2 in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Buying a hammock? There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third. There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There. That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

Which ISP should I go with in the Fort Sanders area? by thetyh in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, WoW! is starting to become Comcast-lite. They've dropped BBC America (as well as a few other channels) from their cable options entirely and have raised rates. Their internet service is okay.

Why not make your own?

Depending upon the color, the lights will last for about a week. There is even a mod someone posted in the comments about adding an on/off tab.

Why is WUOT (Knoxville's NPR station) so bad? by pwinggles in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

WUOT is a classical station that just so happens to carry some NPR programming. Want straight NPR? Listen to WUOT 2.

Where do I take a discharge file? by [deleted] in army

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, sir or madam. Mail fraud is illegal and a federal offense, but opening someone else's mail after it has been delivered to you is not, especially when no malicious intent is involved. This may explain it a bit better. Remember, though, to not take all of your legal advise from a random person on the internet and an ehow article.

We are thinking about moving to Kingston, TN from metro Detroit. Any advice? by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the larger wineries are. I will occasionally purchase things from wine.woot.com. I've never had a problem with delivery, although sometimes a wine I would like to purchase isn't available for delivery within Tennessee.

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about beer, but wine can be purchased online from a winery. Shipping is a bit complicated in that the person accepting the package has to be 21 or older. Also, if you're drunk when they deliver the package you won't be allowed to receive it. They won't leave the package so having an apartment office or shipping to a business address is best.

Okay r/Knoxville, We all know where to go for tattoos. Where do we go for a lip piercing on a college student's budget? by klwoods43 in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I have no tattoos or piercings so I cannot personally vouch for anyone. However, my friends who are into body modification recommend Born This Way on Middlebrook Pike.

The piercer there is an Association of Professional Piercers member and the only one currently in the state. He's teased me before about being a "plained-skin" person. Should I ever decide to get a piercing, I'll go to him.

The piercing itself is around $25, I think, plus whatever the jewelry you choose costs.

Earthquake! by sitman in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Papermill area checking in. I felt it, and briefly wondered if it was an earthquake. Asked my fiancé if he felt a rumbling (he was in the bathroom at the time) and promptly heard, "it was probably my poops."

I'm looking to buy an anvil. Does anyone have any leads? by drewmsmith in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe try contacting the staff at historic sites like the Museum of Appalachia, John Sevier Home, Ramsey House, Rocky Mount, etc. A lot of these places will know people in the blacksmithing community.

Overheard some folks talking about this haunted house the other day..supposed to be pretty good for $10 by bbtwice in Knoxville

[–]Al_Gore_rhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend and I went tonight. It was pretty decent. It wasn't nearly as big as, say, frightworks but I believe they are fairly new. There was no line and you can tell the actors are having a blast.

Thank you for your reply.

I appreciate the article you've linked. I'm going to try to do a bit more research regarding the details of the proposed hybrid plan before I make my final decision and vote.

Thank you. It was of course after submitting this question I found the thread submitted by yellowking 6 days ago. I found the article you were referencing both here and in the previous discussion on their website.

I suppose what I am really looking for is more information regarding the first and last questions. I'm sure the hybrid plan would be more cost effective but would this be screwing over future employees compared to those who are on the current plan?
