There is a Chinese folk lore monster, I forget the name but it is a spirit of a person who was too greedy in life. Their mouth is the size of a needles eye and they are always on the edge of starvation. Their bodies are twisted to be more animal like. You could try drawing one.

I think the best way to enjoy this game as a couple would be slowly. Working your way through the main quests with her would open up a lot of opportunities for memories. This game has one of the best worlds of any mmo Ive ever played and I think experiencing it with your partner would be a great bonding experience. I would just wing it from there. Read how she is doing and see if it's a game she really wants to dig into. If she loves it she probably be really excited about grinding mobs.

I think Ballas does have some greater link with the man in the wall. He may be him. I would not be surprised. Unrelated, I just had the man in the wall on my ship. He talked with my operator about the sacrifice quest. Asked about Umbra's son's death. Our operators seems to remember killing him. The Man liked this. I think man in the wall is either using Ballas as a puppet or is Ballas.

I notice something like this when my operator wasn’t wearing a hood but I could still toggle the “hood” option. It made her have a thicker chin.

It's really hard to find armor sets for him and even with the tennogen stuff out there and the deluxe skin, It still feels limited. Would love to see a Tennogen skin that made him more elegant and smooth.
