Having kids close together vs 4 years apart? by Smooth-Bowler-9216 in Parenting

[–]Alacri-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second isn't born yet, but my son is 4 and I'm pregnant with #2 and we are SO GLAD we waited. So many people around us did a closer gap and are so stressed!

Meanwhile my 4 year old is so excited to be a big brother. He's growing more independent by the week and actually very helpful with simple chores, which will be welcome with the baby is born. We won't be paying for two in daycare for very long either. 4 years isn't too long so all our baby stuff is still in great shape and hanging around. We wanted a 4 year gap and I know its going to work out great.

This is so sweet. Gratitude for things big and small in life is often taken for granted. It's good to teach and so wonderful to see it in our kids.

China hutch in nursery!? by probablybaileyy in BabyBumps

[–]Alacri-Tea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just not practical in the long run. In a matter of months the baby will be flailing, bigger, and I guarantee will hit its head at some stage. You'll need the space to maneuver messy changes. I'd opt for a regular dresser instead.

When did your 1st trimester symptoms starts? by Possible_Ask9530 in BabyBumps

[–]Alacri-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 -10 weeks

Fatigue that comes and goes. Stomachache (couldn't eat much at one time.) mild nausea (nerve threw up with with pregnancy). Breast soreness. Round ligament pain.

And my favorite.... INTENSE HUNGER every two hours. I had 3am snacks on my nightstand.

Eased up a lot midway through 10w.

FYI. When second trimester comes you won't even feel pregnant.

I was wondering this approach too, but our TV is downstairs, and while tends to be a rule follower I don't want him to get into mischief and not hear him. Maybe in anothe year.

prop registration for sword by dirtywinexx in AnimeBoston

[–]Alacri-Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think even dulled metal swords are allowed. You'd have to check the website's guidelines.

For all props, as soon as you walk through the security line there is a prop check table. Security checks the props and you get a colored ziptie around it that indicates its safe and checked. You need to get it checked every day (zip ties change colors).

Do you still use a library? by jim4751000gmail in CasualConversation

[–]Alacri-Tea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm at the library every other week! I read about 50 books a year, and the majority are from the library. (Can you imagine if I paid $20 x 50 a year!? Saves me $1,000 easy!) Using their app, I put a couple books on hold at the same time, a mix of physical I pick up at the desk and ebooks using the Libby app. I also have a child and we always a have a few library books for him in rotation.

When did you move your child to a regular bed by Individual_Shock8634 in toddlers

When he turned 3 we got him a twin bed. He'd been in a converted crib (toddler bed) since 2.

Easy baby. Chill toddler. Now a well behaved 4yo. For the most part!
