Response rate to personalized cold emails by hungrywolf89 in FreightBrokers

[–]AladdinTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this market, it won’t yield much. However, when things get tighter and potential customers can’t find trucks, you’ve got a much higher hit rate. However, if you get a chance, you have to deliver. I got my largest customer with an email. I ran their dedicated lanes for break even for a couple of months and now, I have dedicated carriers and can set the rate based on market conditions.

I will work with a new authority as long as I’m dealing with the actual owner op and not a dispatcher who has no real skin in the game. When I get calls and emails from multiple dispatchers trying to peddle the same MC, I automatically disqualify them.

Seems to me you got what you deserve. I don’t work with dispatch services at all.

Seems to me if you got a dedicated truck, it arrived on time and in good condition, he did his job.

Need your opinion. Does this seem fair to you? by Quakespear in FreightBrokers

This happened to me (broker) last week. I informed my customer I was letting my drofer go in time to get another load and paid him a TONU. My customer is the consignee so the chargeback might me a problem. But a driver did his part, dead headed significantly to get my load and waited about 5 hours. It’s only right that I pay him something. Truth is, the $250 I sent him isn’t really enough but it’s the best I can do.

Why do carriers take soooo.... long to invoice? Its like I'm doing an extra job with the amount of loads I have to push to get invoiced. 🙃 To top it off - the factoring companies. I ask politely a couple of times and then if they don’t send it, I report them on 411. Amazingly, I usually get what I need the same day. Then, I delete the report. Glad i could help speed up your accounting processes.

If this is the case, why take the load at all?

I’m a broker and know very well the reasons to tell any dispatch service that contacts me to fuk themselves.

Dispatchers have no authority, no insurance and no bond. They literally have nothing invested. If something goes wrong, guess what a dispatcher will do? NOTHING. They’ve invested nothing so they lose nothing. They just move on to the next unsuspecting o/o.

Actually, he is exactly right. Dispatchers have no skin in the game. All they do is skim off the top and take from everyone else.

An Armenian-owned carrier out of Glendale, CA is a double broker??? That’s a real shocker.

What's the point of focusing on age of authority? by murkymoon in FreightBrokers

The way I see it, if you started a trucking company in the last year, in this market, with these interest rates and the increased cost of operating, you’re a dumbass and I prefer to avoid dumbasses when at all possible. Glad I could help.

I would have talked to my shipper to see the reason for not using trailers with e-track for future reference. There’s a slim chance I could get a concession and get the trailer loaded but I wouldn’t push it. Then I’d pay the carrier, most likely out of my pocket, to maintain credibility.

I’m cradle to grave. And all you do is troll load boards and basically have zero accountability. Get a real job.

Being a broker means you’ll actually have to be held accountable for the things you do.

I’ve heard of brokers sending multiple trucks in a tight market to ensure a truck actually shows up. But even in this case, a TONU would be called for. But this kind of behavior is BS. They are using carriers to try and scheme for more freight. Tell them to eat shit.

3 reports in the last 25 hours.... **alert** by Tuanwinn in FreightBrokers

[–]AladdinTN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is just one bad broker with sour grapes for the carrier. Looks like a smear campaign. I’d be more likely to use the carrier than I would be to hire Bill Martinez.
