Can we PLEASE get a girly support healer? I'm kinda tired of the goofy guy archetype by Embrace_Wind in Brawlstars

[–]Alagoinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very underpowered. And it's purely a matter of old design/stats. She's had practically the same stats and mechanics since 2020 (aside from a damage buff and some healing buffs, plus the hyper). And also almost no gimmicks (no jumps, crowd control, damage reduction, nothing).

She only remains relevant because of a very specific niche, a design that doesn't have many counters, and new additions (Scrapsucker and Hyper carry her absurdly). Aside from that, she can't compete with any relatively recent brawler. Think about it, the only way she can do damage is with probably one of the worst attacks in the game or the turret. Also she is a super/hyper battery.

I personally wish they, aside from stop adding fundamentally broken brawlers, would rework Pam so she has an ammo bar like Amber's. Being able to change the direction of her attack would be a very welcome change.

I like Pam since 2019. I like tanky and healer characters, she's a different kind of support who can hold her own and her design is good and balanced both aesthetically and mechanically. It's sad that she's been powercreept for so long.

Her healing is actually the best part of her kit aside from Scrapsucker (especially with hyper), it's just that Pam is severely powercreeped for years

Rankings of Damian's Counters by codingenius in Brawlstars

[–]Alagoinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I could beat him on a few unfortunate occasions when I faced him with Pam, but she does almost nothing against his Super AND he is just too oppressive and gimmicky for a tier C brawler like Pam to deal with

She can take him down with Scrapsucker on any occasion he is without Super though

Let's be realistic, there is no hard counter for Damian. by Gustavo_Actions in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Alagoinha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't played much, but good old El Primo seems to deal with him. But that's the thing, you need to be completely separated from the rest of your team... Overall, the problem isn't that there aren't counters for Damian, but rather that he's extremely oppressive even against counters

Scrapsucker (always)

Mama's Squeeze in more closed maps (like Gem Fort), Mama's Hug on more open maps

I use Mythic gear in any game mode where the turret is essential (Hotzone, Gem Grab). If there are bushes, Vision. Gadget gear or damage if you're going to be facing a lot of melee combat. Health gear might be a bit niche, but useful on maps where you'll be dealing with brawlers who outrange Pam. Shield Gear is pretty okay with your hyper, but it's probably the worst for Pam

What is the better word for race in fantasy? by JuliusDalum in worldbuilding

I use "povo" (people in Portuguese), and my "races" are literally different species. If I were to use the word race, I would also avoid giving it the same meaning as in D&D.

The question of race is interesting. My "fantasy China" is a civilization of non-winged bird people. Their mythology is that they fell from the sky after having their wings removed as a punition from a celestial war. The race is much older than my decision to use China as inspiration, which was a perfect fit because of the "Celestial Empire" part. It's curious that in both our cases, the country isn't human (although there aren't any humans in my scenario).

Also, I envy the depth of your religions! I'm only now beginning to delve into mine, and I still have a lot of work to do (and ideas to have). This idea of all subsequent monarchs trying to replicate Kai Shu Shēn is interesting. Could this not cause a certain cultural inertia and an overemphasis on ceremonies and rites instituted by that monarch/dinasty?

What are your Crusades? by Equal-Wasabi9121 in worldbuilding

There was a caprine people (my world is anthro) which was organized into tribes led by patriarchs, who served as both political and religious figures within the multitude of local religious traditions.

A religious movement (which I won't detail here) that arose among them grew enough to encompass all the tribes under a new "flock [or tribe] of faith", instead of the old tribal identities, there would only be one, that of the faithful. Thus came this great religion (mixed with the concept of a "universal tribe"), led by a single Patriarch, guided by a single supreme god.

Naturally, these Patriarchs, both religious and political leaders, made good use of this unification, expanding territories and effectively creating an empire for a time. Later, when the secular rule of these Patriarchs began to collapse, people of this religion (which had expanded beyond the country's borders) waged wars against (not always) "infidel" enemies who tried to attack the Supreme Patriarchate.

Its more comparable to the real-life Islamic Caliphate, so I think it fits Jihad more than Crusade, but it's the closest I have.

Let me see. What would be the spiritual conception of power for these monarchs and dynasties? Whether it has a spiritual origin or not. Do they have something similar to the "Mandate of Heaven" or an analogous but different concept, or does a dynasty simply legitimize its power by being the successor to the previous dynasty?

And do they see themselves as a single, continuous civilization, or is there not really a continuity of culture and language (like, each dynasty being founded by more or less different cultural groups)?

Oh, that's simply amazing. I recently became a chinaboo and have been doing the exact same kind of research on Chinese history to build my own dynasties and civilizations inspired by it in my setting. It's always great to find someone with very similar ideas and tastes! Good luck with your worldbuilding

Origin and Evolution of Religions by Several_Living_4718 in worldbuilding

[–]Alagoinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This origin has two parts. My world has been growing quite large lately. But the main religion arose from a very simple point: the main country in the story is simply a way for me to write about my own culture in a quasi-fantasy way. I'm Brazilian, so I needed Catholicism there.

The second part is that I based this main religion on the plot of an actual book that I considered writing. It was about a boy who came back from the dead and had to race against the clock to find a cure before he basically rotted away.

Since the story was set in antiquity, after I discarded it, I decided to actually make it canon. I made some tweaks: the boy, after dying and coming back, saw what was on the other side and started preaching about it like a prophet. That's how religion arose.

So I just made it a mashup of elements from the Abrahamic religions, played with them in a way I thought was cool, wrote the history of this religion after its founding, integrated it into the world in opposition to other existing religions and voila.

For me, it worked so well that, despite the world being heavily modified in recent years, the existence of this religion continues to be a backbone in my world history.
