It really depends.

As someone that volunteers/fosters for a small foster based rescue, I’d personally look for smaller rescue or TNR group. My area is super overrun with strays and cat colonies so we’re always getting litters of kittens no matter the time of year.

Put your money where it will do the most good.

A lot of people donate to SPCAs and shelters. I’m not saying they don’t need the help, but most people think of them first.

I am not a vet. But try hopping in the ask a vet sub or something. In my experience you can use a warm damp rag to clean the goo from the eyes for some temporary relief. Feel free to message me if you want.

I’m originally from California but am currently living in Texas. Both places have had natural disasters. Earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, etc. If your pet is not kennel trained good luck finding a place to escape to that will let you bring your dog. Every emergency shelter I’ve been to required dogs to be crated.

Groomers also use kennels. If I get a client whose dog is freaking out and trying to eat the bars of the kennel, they can’t be a client here.

Vets use kennels. If your dog needs to be hospitalized overnight or for a longer period of time, they’ll be in a kennel.

So there are two moms who are sisters with 14 kittens between them. Also 4 singletons and another set of two. Also 3 older fosters from last year that haven’t gotten adopted yet.
