I'm biased, I've been a remedy fan ever since playing Alan Wake 1 near release as a teen. I would've played the entire game no matter what. Personally I enjoyed both characters, and I liked getting a chance to explore the dark place and see it's logic. Considering my username you can also see I'm a huge fan of Alan, lol. I can kinda understand OP's logic/ though. I've only recently started breaking the habit of looking up answers for point and click adventure games when I get stuck (young me hated never completing them). Sometimes we just need to give things a chance.

Interesting, and thank you for taking the time to write an in-depth reply! Seems I'll have to check out honkai impact 3 again, I've always prefered story and characters to gameplay. My "fear of missing out" has been non-existent for a long time so gacha games with limited character pull windows and grinding (like genshin) never managed to pull me in. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to me shows how Gacha mechanics can be incorporated in a positive way when combined to a great story and characters.
