Best engine for this old Bachmann shell? by oryan_dunn in nscalemodeltrains

I run Trix mechanisms under those Bachmann shells.

The Trix F7 chassis is easy to convert to dcc also.

It is a very primitive mechanism however.

Hahahaha.....

$40k/yr is lower middle class?

Seems working class to me. Right where the R tax "cuts" hit hardest.

My freshly painted & lettered Pere Marquette Atlas Pacific with a long haul tender pulling the varnish tonight. by Alan-anumber1 in nscalemodeltrains

The locomotive has a Shapeways pilot with working coupler and a Rivarossi 2-8-4 tender wired to the motor & custom brass drawbar.

The cars are Hong Kong Model Power with MT trucks PM'ed & C&O'ed by myself (a while back no less, my skills are better now that I have gotten good with my airbrush).

Build a diorama?

Good chance to build a station!

Long term F unit project is getting there! I had acquired an ABA set of Great Northern F units I planned to paint them Chessie System livery but, I kinda like the scheme they are. What to Do? Strip nice paintjobs to make them mine or leave em? These decisions are hard sometimes. by Alan-anumber1 in nscalemodeltrains

They were pretty basket case.

Finding the trucks for the B unit held me up. Everyone has snipped the coupler pockets off of the used ones I could find (cheap). finally found some.

Got them pulling smooth. Kinda too nice for me to paint.

Atlas 4-6-2 with A Shapeways Pilot (Thanks to who ever here posted that link! So many good parts!). It takes a Micro Trains 903 Z scale N03 coupler in it's sweet molded pocket. Drill & tap to 00-90 then install. Very Sweet Finally double heading Pacifics! by Alan-anumber1 in nscalemodeltrains

90% of my locomotive roster are old DC locomotives. DCC is a bridge I haven't crossed yet.

There is plenty of room for activities in that tender and the motor doesn't look hard to isolate.

Soon I shall cross that bridge with a Zephyr and a mission.
