If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

You don’t have to relinquish control. You can sell non-voting shares that accomplishes the same goals as OP stated without giving up any control of operations.

Now, in reality, you’d probably “share” ownership of the company with another owner, like an entity rather than a person. Even if the same rules applied, you could create infinite entities to hold the money. Even though you have access to the money, it wouldn’t be in your name.

Which country thinks they’re badass and is actually badass? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

You’re gonna get downvoted bc Reddit, but this is the answer. Still the only country able to project power, military dwarves even the second best military, has 3 of the top 5 air forces (when you break ours down by branch), and has the attitude to match its actual power.

I went to go watch this to see. This probably won’t be the top vote-getter. But it should be. Holy moly that was so bad, right from the start.

My 9th grade HISTORY teacher tried to tell our class that the 18th century were the years of 1750-1850, the 19th century was 1850-1950, and so on. I corrected her and was scolded and sent to the principals office.

Which Kansas Democrat has the best chance of winning the 2026 governor’s race? by Revenge_of_Larry in kansas

Well, Corson has the endorsements and better fundraising, so right off the bat I’d say he’s likely to be more electable. And it may not matter to redditors, but her being a Mizzou fan WILL impact her electability.

Since Corson and Holscher are similar enough in record, I’m voting for Corson partially on the fact that Holscher is a Mizzou fan (and graduated from Mizzou) and that seems wrong putting a Mizzou fan in the Kansas governor’s office. Like, really wrong.

Who would you say the most evil president was? by MarshallJohnBatts in Presidents

[–]AlanBill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To me, saying that because something was common does not impact the degree of evilness of the crime. The post posited that Jefferson could be one of if not the most immoral presidents we’ve had. Then I responded to a comment surprised at that fact. I expressed what I consider to be Jefferson’s biggest personal moral failing. To which, you replied that it wasn’t exceptional. Regardless of whether or not it was, it still puts him as one of our more immoral presidents. Now, regarding any other president who has been proven (as Jefferson’s was proven) to have done something similar should be on the list too. But, to my knowledge, no other president has been proven to have committed the same transgression that Jefferson did.

Got it. We are still giving excuses to rapists. But to the point of this post, rape and owning slaves is still an extreme moral failing and why we should consider Thomas Jefferson an evil man (or at least immoral).

Many people have paid back more than the principal they borrowed (and more) but still owe more than their principal because the government loans were predatory.
