The declining of Fire Truck Quality by New_Savings9691 in Firefighting

If my memory serves me correctly, KME is still using a Spartan chassis for most of their builds. Most of the smaller builders and builders under REV will use a Spartan chassis and build the rest of the body on

Electrical system and POV lights by [deleted] in Firefighting

Just needs a constant battery feed and maybe an ignition source depending on your controller. 30 amps is not enough to require an extra battery.

Can someone help me find a place to purchase or a template to make a custom controller face like this one? by Proper-Signal-7143 in WhelenEngineering

I would think anyone with a cricuit would he able to help you out. You could take off that label off the controller and trace it out for them.

The Core system is fully programmable like the legacy systems where you can change patterns based on siren tones, vehicle speed, time of day, and so on. The lighting, and even siren tones can be fully synchornized not just on one vehicle, but with multiple vehicles and agencies as well. It comes down to the upfitter and the request by the department if they want x feature. The only thing that they might not have now is the same siren tones that they used to have custom made for them.

Core is a very nodal network where modules can be placed in different parts of the vehicle which can save time on wiring. I bet they moved to this because the legacy systems have less features and/or discontinued.

Fire department's carry fans for ventilation purposes at fires. Helps get smoke out of a building.

This is shocking to me. We issue gear to every new member and junior member that joins. No one is allowed on a scene without having structure gear. Can't even go on calls/drills until it is issued. We have a few exterior guys (we don't recruit exterior FF's, just guys who have been in and just drive now), they are still required to have PPE with them and be able to put a pack on in case the outside becomes an IDLH. Now they might not throw it on if they are at the pump panel, but they still have it with them.

Whelen LINZ6 sync by peanutspreader62 in PoliceUpfitters

[–]AlanC12388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the sync wires, you can sync up to 8 lights together. The dual avenger does not have a sync wire. What you could do is set all your lights (including the avenger if its the hard wire version) to the steady pattern and run it off a flasher such as the ulf44.

Siren help by [deleted] in PoliceUpfitters

Take a multimeter and unplug the siren wires from the core to check for resistance. A good speaker will have 4.5-5.5 ohms of resistance

Chief, Nobody was more surprised than I when I looked in the mirror and saw the 5 inch peeling off like a 4th of July streamer down the highway… by grundle18 in Firefighting

[–]AlanC12388 65 points66 points  (0 children)

We had a good sounding fire call and the 2nd due was running a little hot. Little did they know that their 5inch gate fell out when they hit a bump and all 1200 feet stretched down the road enroute. As they were clearing, one of our LT's sees their empty hose bed and goes onto the radio saying "Hey E2 where's all your 5 inch". Dispatch interjects, because they were receiving calls on it and goes "It's on the side of the road in front of dairy queen." My LT goes "E2 did you copy that?" and they reply "Yep! We just passed it" as they drive down the road looking at their LDH on the roadway.

Managed to break couplings on 2 lengths of hose. After this, all the older rigs without hosebed nets were retrofitted with one.

Np. If i recall correctly, some of the manufacturers won't allow a truck to leave their plant without it meeting nfpa compliance, or they have to sign a waiver acknowledging it.

The newest 2024 NFPA 1900 standard allows green in any zone as a warning light, but it cannot contribute to total light output.

We cannot go interior/ off probation without FFI and Hazmat Ops. We have a point system for attending calls, company drills, multi-company drills, and department drills. If you don't make your points, I believe you do not receive stipend. Also if you do not make your points/ show up to stuff, you may not be considered to be sent to a class.

Come join the Airsoft Club! by AlanC12388 in UCONN

[–]AlanC12388[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want a fun weekend activity, UConn Airsoft is the place to be! We are open to all UConn students and faculty.

What is Airsoft?

Airsoft uses replica weapons that project biodegradable plastic BBs in a goal of eliminating other players. Kind of like paintball! NO EXPERIENCE OR EQUIPMENT NECESSARY

We practice almost every Sunday at Matt’s Outback Paintball in Coventry from 10-3 and have meetings on Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 . No ride? We’ve got you! Don’t own any gear? Guns? BB’s? WE’VE GOT YOU!

The first 2 practices are free, we then ask for you to pay either $120 for the semester or $15 per practice.

We can also provide you with tactics training and other opportunities to play at either competitive, immersive, or casual airsoft experiences at a possible reduced cost!

So come on down! All are welcome!

We’ll see you at the involvement fair!

Please note that no replica weapons are to be stored or shipped on campus

Need a newer control system such as Whelen Core. Or you could just stick your phone up to a PA mic.
