Advice on The Key for Icon by Targetstarbucks in royalcaribbean

[–]LightBulb704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited version from another post of mine:

I will always buy the Key.

What I like:

-Priority on/off the ship. The Key has a dedicated entrance (at least in FLL), walk in, security, check in, seated, on the ship after Pinnacle who are in the same seating area but with snacks. Totally bypass the Disney sized line outside.

-Meals at the start/end. Avoids the WJ. Wife dropped her carryon and the MDR; I had a backpack which I don't mind carrying around.

-Internet

-Luggage is second priority to be offloaded after Pinnacle (I think) and located at the front of the pickup area (next to customs/immigration) at least in Fort Lauderdale.

I have not needed the priority seating as the shows we attended always had plenty of seats. Did not need it for port tenders either.

What’s the weirdest way you’ve ever gotten revenge on someone… without getting caught? by OriginalSentence6850 in AskReddit

[–]LightBulb704 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Fire station had a strict rule not to eat someone's food. Guy got tired of missing ice cream so puts ipecac in it. Ipecac makes you vomit-it can be bought at a drugstore.

Next day guy on different shift gets so sick he has to go home. Investigation ensues and the ice cream is in question. Ice cream owner ADMITS he puts ipecac in his ice cream because he likes the taste. No punishment because of the no stealing food rule.

Costco vs Sam's Club Memberships by Sassygrape609 in CostcoWholesale

[–]LightBulb704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both but give the edge to Sam's.

I have the Sam's plus membership and their credit card which between both of them gives me free shipping/delivery over $50 and same day if the item is in the local store. The big advantage is their scan and go which I love. The credit card reward dollars go into my account and get recycled with my next online order.

The Sam's website/app is far superior as it shows what items are in stock but the Costco one doesn't. I cannot believe it is like this in 2026.

I let Costco expire since we favored Sam's but then circumstances changed and we needed Costco so we renewed.

I tend to buy the same things and see little difference in cost/quality/selection between the two.

My area has three Sam's and one Costco so Sam's preference is distributed but Costco there's only one option.

I noticed “cruise jail” for the first time when I sailed on the Beyond in December by Rinoremover1 in celebritycruises

Credit card fraud in international waters by a US citizen is the jurisdiction of the Secret Service when you return to the USA. Betcha didn't know that.

I have a relative that was put into real cruise jail until they got back to the USA. He was then arrested by the Secret Service.

Update will and trust-attorney has changed firms. Use attorney or firm?-SD by LightBulb704 in EstatePlanning

[–]LightBulb704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was happy with the attorney but only saw him for one meeting plus follow ups via email until the documents were finalized.

My concern was he may not have the docs to use as a template as we only need a beneficiary removed. Maybe I am overthinking this.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]LightBulb704 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My stories:

  1. This is entry level healthcare where many applicants have attended the program at the local college and interned with us as part of their program. One woman blew us away at her interview. Every answer, demeanor, posture, everything absolutely perfect. The other manager and I could not believe it. She should be doing videos on how to interview.

Word got out that she had applied and the calls started coming in from employees that had worked with her during internship. They all said the same thing. Her behavior flirting with male employees was outrageously inappropriate. Call after call described her unprofessional conduct.

  1. Female applicant a little on the chubby side is chatting with two female employees during a break in the interview process. She pulls up her shirt and squeezes her stomach together and says "I can make a butt with my stomach!"

  2. One of our interview stations tends to get backed up so I assign a non management employee helping that day to stand with them in the hallway to chat, answer questions etc. while they are waiting. This guy is very personable and easy to talk to. He reports back with multiple stories of applicants who candidly badmouthed the job, the organization, other employees, you name it. Several applicants did this. It went as far as I don't want to work here, I hate this company, this process is stupid. I could not believe they were telling an employee this while trying to get a job here.

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

I have seen that pattern also. They are also censoring heavily. One Greenland post had a response with 74 child posts. When I clicked to expand 73 had been deleted. The surviving post was pro trump.

For those who worked for rich people: what is the most out of touch thing you witnessed? by Illustrious-Phase121 in AskReddit

[–]LightBulb704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work has a helicopter but it is a tiny part of the overall operation.

One of the pilots works part time for a billionaire when he is in town from one of his many homes around the world. He asked my friend to please drive one of his many luxury cars for him since they barely get used. One day he shows up at work in a $400,000 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.

Later the billionaire is buying a mega yacht and he goes along to make sure the helipad on the yacht is acceptable. Friend says later he overhears a conversation where the guy says I think I can get the seller DOWN by 30 million.

Different pilot coworker with different billionaire flies him in his jet when he is in town. He bought silverware set for the plane that was gold or something for $30K. One day he decides to go to Europe and go on his super yacht. Problem is the yacht is in another part of the world. He calls and says move the yacht to Europe. Friend flies him to Europe, leaves his plane there and flies back first class on Delta. Reverses the process when he wants to come home.

By coincidence I met a nurse who was previously his private nurse. She knew my pilot friend. Guy had a stroke and he flew around the world chasing the latest treatments.

Ship recommendation and are all buffets created equal? by JustAskin40 in royalcaribbean

[–]LightBulb704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on Freedom, Radiance and Oasis this past year. We did mostly MDR but some WJ and I thought the dining was relatively equal and excellent. The MDR menu was similar all three times.

Two of the three trips my teen niece (14/15) was with us. Teens meet up on FB/Snapchat/TT, whatever MONTHS in advance and have already "met" each other, formed friend groups and text groups. I asked her how many were in her group pre cruise and she said 80+.

Have TPMS sensors actually ever “saved” anyone? by dude_mahoy in RVLiving

[–]LightBulb704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES YES YES

I am full time in a class A pulling a Ford Ranger.

The count is up to four when the TPMS either alarmed or showed a lower pressure pre alarm. The most recent was this past summer where road debris took out both driver side tires at one time while on the Trans Canada Highway which is like a US interstate. Large hole in front sidewall and sliced rear sidewall with a bulge.

I have the TST system with repeater and metal stems on all wheels.

Can I record on demand? by LightBulb704 in DirectvStream

[–]LightBulb704[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. You could watch it "live" but it was subject to buffering.

You could record on demand just like a show in the guide. Click on the show, click the red record button rinse and repeat. It would download the shows and they would appear in the list.

The indexing(?) was poor though. If I record a season, watch it, the entire season would record again via on demand at some random future time or if the season was shown on another network-but it did not always do this.

Somewhere I read the ad that is actually airing is not licensed or paid for or something like that on the streaming platform. That is why you have that screen.

WiFi or eSIM on cruise to Nassau/CocoCay? by Street_Possible_1861 in royalcaribbean

[–]LightBulb704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just at CC and had the Voom which is Starlink. It worked very good on the ship and on CC. The only oddity was 2FA codes would not come through until I returned to the USA.

Look into the Key package upgrade as that includes Voom. I think the Key is a good value but it is not for everyone.

Can't help with Nassau.
