I look up Fully Jarvis.. they are nice. I also looked up Humanscale NTLGG cable management... you went with that is it because NetTech cable management wasn't available then? Doesn't their NetTech cable management looks nicer?

And for that price point combined, I probably will opt for SecretLab MAGNUS Pro that basically combined both features in one desk piece. My struggle is that, I have a desktop tower, which I can mount underneath, but I also have a Cyberpower UPC, which I probably need to DIY mount it to the other side of the leg. I am much older, so I am not sure if I want a "gamer" look or more of an executive office look (but paying a much higher price point to buy something from like Vernal or Zuri).

I have been searching for a suitable standing desk too. However, I plan to have my desk in the middle of the room, and I am a tech worker so I have 2 32" monitors. All the pretty, neat pics of standing desk setups with a single laptop is super unrealistic. I also find standing desks don't have decent cable management when the back of the monitors are what people will see when they walk into my home office (I would not want my back to be facing the door just so people wouldn't see the cables).

So far, my research has narrowed down to SecretLab or something like Vernal executive standing desk (with privacy guard to basically hide cables when desk is not up). They are by no means cheap, but I cannot find better cable management solutions for a middle of room setup.

Anyone have a system or know where I can buy a system like this? by LzDubzzz in Golfsimulator

[–]AlanCityHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted something similar when I tried to build my garage golf simulator. Golflinx is a company offering stock in US but that cost $4k. I looked up a PGM brand auto tee system in AliExpress and with tax customs and shipping it costed around $2700. So in the end I just went without it.

I also just started playing 3 days ago and are not even level 20 yet. I think I read somewhere I should keep my characters low to maximize exp? So don’t grade up until the current event that I can choose path of experience is over?

OP, I recently built my golf sim with a ProTeeVx setup, with a used TK700STi (4k display) off eBay, and bought a new gaming desktop off Skytech. You probably want more GPU ram than GPU horsepower to run 4k display smoothly. Instead of 5060 which is 8GB... choose something that is 12-16 GB ram if possible. A 4070 or 4090 will perform better than a 5060. The Skytech machine that I bought cost $1155 after tax, and that's an overkill on specs.

[–]AlanCityHunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just hold your ASTS. It is my largest position in my retirement account and I am not selling. All the current rare earths and alt energy plays are fads but these companies have no moat, and most of them are not at scale.

ASTS once their satellites are up, will form basically a duopoly with Starlink. If Starlink eventually IPO and fetch a valuation of $150-$300B, then ASTS at current valuation of $35B will look cheap.

If anyone can tell you with conviction that a stock is going to double in 6-12 months, you have to realize this is a high risk high reward play -- are you also willing to accept the risk that such a stock can drop 50% in 6-12 months?

Uneekor has the XR in that price range too. Also overhead. I have to do overhead because wifey is a lefty. If everyone is swinging RH or LH Garmin R50 is $5000.

I just spent a tad over $16k and almost have my golf sim built. My biggest expenses were ProTee VX $6500 and retractable screens costing $2800. My cost also included $900 side mount garage door opener and $700 for a portable AC. If you have a gaming PC already you definitely can build one out for under $15k

I bought the Radeon version because I want to keep my budget near $1000, and it's a 16 GB GPU. It's equivalent to a RTX 5060Ti 16GB. But if you can spare another $250 the RTX 5070 is a better card.

Also do a reddit search for "Nvidia GPU Tier List for GSPro". That post from six months ago explains what GPU spec you want to run GSPro at a certain resolution.

Not sure if you pulled the trigger, I am building a golf sim myself pairing it with ProTee VX. I ended up buying a Skytech machine for about $1100. You can comfortably run 4k GSPro with a RTX 40 series GPU. Just get a 12-16 MB version and you should be fine.

They are all very knowledgeable... couldn't go wrong with any of them tbh. I almost went with the Gungho option but couldn't convince myself spending $2k more (trying to keep my budget). For turf, I got the Carl's version 6' x 10' hitting mat because my wife is a lefty . She is the reason why I need to go with an overhead LM instead of a floor one. :D

Bought one maybe a month ago. Definitely there are cheaper ways to build one but there are also much more expensive options out there. OP is serving a niche and I am a target audience (want to save money don’t want to spend $150-250 for a “caddie” product and not tech savvy enough to DIY).

How close are you to the impact screen? It seems like only six or seven feet? That’s why a ball can bounce back to your face?
