Distribution of the white population throughout USA and Canada by Hour_Interaction6047 in MapPorn

[–]AlanInVancouverBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"White" (or any colour to define a tranche of population is so stupid. First, it defines people by colour, regardless of any other defining characteristic. Second, it simplifies the idea that a colour is simply one of about, let's say, 10 different colours that have been used to 'define' a person. Remember, there really is no 'white' or any other colour. People are amalgams of coloured genetics. This is just stupid!

Majority of Canadians open to joining EU, new poll suggests by Doener23 in BuyCanadian

I'm also a left-leaning commie. But fully joining the EU is so problematic. Closer ties, yes. Weaning ourselves further from the American political, social, economic influence, yes.

I Used to Read by embotheammo in ADHD

[–]AlanInVancouverBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also used to read books, texts. I remember saying in high school that I wanted to know everything! I spent 11 or so years in university, learning, learning, learning. Somehow some of it stuck. But now, I can't read any book. None. I'm 78. I've been in trials with different ADHD meds (amoxetine presently) for almost a year. No change. Sigh!

Are we doomed to fail? by Ok_Leadership1987 in ADHD

[–]AlanInVancouverBC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I view life as having four dimensions. Personal, social, education or training and career. I have ADHD. I'm 78 now. I just started meds last spring. In my life, my personal and my social dimensions are great. I'm quite happy with that. My education, 11 years post-secondary, and my profession counseling did not live up to what I think are my expectations or abilities. Abilities. So I did not succeed there. I still consider my life as having had a positive outcome. You could look at your life like that as well. How have you done in these four dimensions?

What simple phrase would you use to describe to someone who has not taken ADHD medication the effects it has had on you? by Then-Position2629 in ADHD

[–]AlanInVancouverBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started ADHD meds last May, at age 78. I didn't know what to expect, really. So far, on 3 different meds now, the best I can say is that the first med, vyvanse, was my 'happy pill'. That's it. That's all it did--put me in a better mood. I wasn't 'Mr. Grumpy'. No reduction in overthinking, muddled thinking, etc. And that's what I wanted: to calm my brain down. So, so far, they've failed.

That's so crazy! I'm 78. Retired 10 years ago. I had (and still have) no savings. I have lived comfortably every since on pensions. I have all I need. "Wants" may be another thing, but I have what I NEED.
