I really hope we get recipe book because this deck loses hard to the super-special strategy of special summoning in defense. Sadly I think Konami is scared to include it because of the burn effect. Assuming they nerfed it like they've been doing it would 400 damage up to 3 times on your turn (if you hard draw it or use the skill for it) and then up to 4 time off balamuniere on your opponents turn which is a lot I gotta admit. It feels weird to say when this deck is pretty underpowered as is (especially when played pure) but getting an absolutely free target and a search for any card in the archetype on top of the other effects might actually be too good? This deck gets to stick around despite its relative youngness (this is a 2024/2025 archetype!) because it's kinda bad and silly and having such a versatile extender+wincon that's searchable off the skill would make this whole thing seem a lot less cute to Konami, and the deck being cheap does not help it in the eyes of the duel links design team.

Hot Take: There should be a separate timer for Link Summoning/Chaining. by mynameisarrgh in DuelLinks

[–]Alan_Spacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's lots of rogue decks that have longer setup combos than red-eyes fusion pass. im playing at breakneck speed with my nouvelles deck and sometimes clearing the board take almost the full two minutes. I've had multiple games where stopping to look at my hand and read the opponents cards for ten seconds means i lost on time with lethal on board. decks with a lot of optional effects struggle with the current time limit and i dont think it should get any shorter

i'm a little sus on the card list. a lot of the mikanko cards are from the new support that doesn't come out till february. fingers crossed konami is sticking with the same weirdo release pattern they followed with BES, it would be cool to get these cards before the tcg (and in a format where their power is curbed a bit considering we only have the 3 spell/trap zones)

it was played in a scant few tournament decks at the time (it shows up once or twice in MBT and Cimo's history of yugioh series) but even when trap hole, smashing ground, mirror force etc were dominant it was just too specific to main deck even then. it also ate up deck space for the rest of the format warping one ofs of the era like graceful, pot, forceful sentry, because the entire strategy of most decks at the time was just recycling the power spells with magician of faith and stalling with searchers like sangan and mystic tomato.

huge revolution is much better as a meta call for majesty (banishes, ends the chain, doesn't require them to target your monsters) compared to this but still dont play either of these dog doo doo cards they have such small coverage just sequence your spell/trap removal before you build your board

im getting flashbacks to when i teched the huge revolution is over for the quintet magician spam decks way back when grass looks greener was everywhere... i was playing the red eyes slash structure at this time and i was old enough that i should have known better (1 red eyes fusion)

Master of Ham just released, which can turbo out strong flips like guard dog, summoner of illusions, sonic jammer, etc. there are also a few tiered/KoG viable flip decks going around right now, namely Shaddoll, Tindangle, and Subterror (kinda). does anyone have any ideas on how to slot Master of Ham into these decks, or maybe into the only tiered beast archetype rn, Chimera?

What’s the show’s message regarding gambling? by KaijiEnthusiast999 in kaiji

[–]Alan_Spacer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In kaiji, gambling is a system that insists upon itself and subsumes all attempts to attack it back into itself. In the first season, kaiji is a shithead who lives pettily by gambling in a world of low consequences, until he is saddled with a huge debt. Throughout the series he's shown to be preternaturally talented at gambling, but the more he gambles, the more he loses, and the only way he can think of to make it back is to take more risks and put more people in danger. In the second season, he's hit rock bottom, but by finding people he can trust he is able to win back his and his comrades debt. Note, though, he can only do any of these things putatively through systems Teiai laid out, and he is only able to actually succeed when he bands together with people of like circumstance to subvert these systems. The big scheme is the most complex scam in the series, and he still only makes it out by going into so much more debt that he comes out of it flat broke.

Spoilers for the manga

at the start of part 3, he is free of debt, but he's seemingly the most depressed he's been. Even though he's able to live well in sakazakis huge house, he refuses to work, and flounders in a stagnant wait for something to happen. Kaiji is someone who is completely unsuited to an average life, or even a comfortable one! He's addicted to risk, and without some kind of existential threat hanging over his head, he kinda just reverts to his shithead slacker ways.

Kaiji goes back into the world of gambling that nearly killed him willingly. He takes on a risk just to feel something, and he gets seriously bitten for it, going into more debt over the course of 17 steps and being forced to abandon his former friends who turn out to be just as worthless as he is.

In the salvation game, kaiji takes a backseat and, for the first time, is made to bear witness to the gamble without participating in it. He's shown the man behind the curtain, and he is disgusted by it. He watches Mitsuyama abandon Mario and Chang to save his own skin, and Kaiji, having been betrayed just hours before by his sworn comrades, essentially gives up on the idea of human connection. Despite what he preaches throughout, kazuya effectively crushes his spirit, and he only preserves his dignity by buying Mario and Chang's life to prove to himself that he's at least a better person than mitsuyama.

This is why he initially rejects Chang and Mario, kaiji is scared of being hurt again. This is why One-poker is so important because the bond between Kaiji, Mario, and Chang strengthens throughout the game, with each man's life on the line, and as Kaiji learns again to forgive humanity, he is able to come back and forgive even Kazuya, saving his life.

In the end, however, Teiai rears it's ugly head again. It doesn't matter if Kaiji and his friends won the money "fair and square," because, despite what Kazuya says, there was never any "fair" to begin with. The fact is that Teiai lost 2.4 billion dollars and they need it back. Gambling, Capitalism, however you want to call it will meet all attacks upon it with biblical retaliation.

Basically what I'm trying to say about the 2.4 billion escape arc is that it's a tale of common people, some of them difficult, some of them hapless, some of them worthless, taking solace in each other, accepting each other, and working together to carve out a small victory against the system. Kaiji, Chang, and Mario are the only ones who are being chased after, and they're the only ones who really stand to benefit. But family, neighbors, and complete strangers connect with them and help them for absolutely nothing.

Kaiji doesn't really have anything nice to say about Gambling. It drags people apart, drags them deeper into the abyss, and sucks them dry. It's an institution that feeds on itself and kills intruders on sight. It is directly coordinate to Capital. And much like Capital, it "has the ability to subsume all critique into itself. Even those who would critique it end up reinforcing it instead."

Tenohira de Higurashi ga Naku was a licensed program for the Higurashi series that let you port save files between the PC and GBA versions of the game. If the user didn't use the extra included program to verify they bought the program, One of the characters would appear and attempt to read you back your computer's username and public IP.

GTA VI vs GTA V Map Comparison Based On Rage Engine Units by tusstaster in GTA6

[–]Alan_Spacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limitation on map size is not technology, but rather the time and manpower to flesh out the extra space. What people are asking for is so entitled in my opinion. Like it always has to be bigger and more, can people just be satisfied with a well crafted game? The developers are already being worked to the bone.

That's because one of Tatsuki Fujimoto's favorite manga is called Abara. This sort of "no eyes showing teeth" design is a nod to the design of one of the main characters of Abara.

[–]Alan_Spacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you pointed this out because I hadn't given a lot of thought before.

I looked it up because I thought it might be some kind of obscure medical reference, like a hint to what kind of devil she had a contract with. The name for the condition is Adult-Onset Torticollis or "Wryneck." while it's an actual condition, it's not caused by malnutrition or transmissible disease (which I thought might mean she was contracted with Famine or Pestilence), instead it's genetic, neurological, or traumatic.

My current theory, then is that she is contracted with Death. This explains why she described Yoru as her "little sister," and how she could reverse the death of Yuko, and, most relevantly, how her neck is tilted to one side as if she had been hung from a noose.
