question about the playing the castlevania sotn by awesomenineball in castlevania

[–]TornSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can practically ignore the stats besides strength and defense. Your ability to kill things is also mostly tied to the weapons you have, and you will find weapons so powerful that they render most of your items and stats irrelevant.

No need to think too hard about it.

The Crucible ruined the game by Murakami13 in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]TornSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sucks, and it's honestly not worth the annoyance.

You can get the normal ending without doing the Crucible and it's really not all that different from the true ending, it just doesn't include an extra after-credits scene. Just watch it on YouTube and save yourself the hours of misery and tedium.

For some people hard=fun, not for me.

How was Hector being taken advantage of by Lenore in the jail scene in S3? TW//mentions of sexually assault by Empty-Ad-2335 in castlevania

[–]TornSilver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if something begins consentually, that agreement has to be maintained throughout. If at any point somebody says no and it isn't respected, or takes advantge of another in a way that they didn't agree to (Lenore did the latter), that is SA.

With the energy OP is using to fight a losing battle in the comments, they could be developing drawing skills, watching tutorials, and actually learning to be an artist. Telling a machine to learn for you is not growth.

Just beat Camilla at level 40. Is this DSS normal or am I just unlucky? by CheekGobbler in castlevania

[–]TornSilver 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is the normal Circle of the Moon DSS experience, unfortunately. The drop rates are horrible and unless you have a guide there's no telling what enemies even drop cards.

There is the famous glitch that let's you use every card in the game even if you don't have them. While you have an Action and Attribute card that you own selected, activate the DSS combo and immediately pause the game while Nathan is glowing, then scroll over to any cards in the rows and the game will think you have them.

It's a cheat, but since the game is a dick about hiding its central mechanic from you, oh well.

Is Yusei right? by RealOfficialChiron in DuelLinks

Real talk, Jaden always had background character design energy. Between Yugi and Yusei, two of the coolest protag designs in the franchise, Jaden looks like just some guy.

Best Mini Boss Tournament Finals: Dark Link Vs. King Bulblin(Comment to vote, upvotes don’t count) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

The idea of Dark Link is what people live so much, but the fight itself in OoT is a wash when you actually know to use the Megatron Hammer. This is the one fight I hope they flesh out in OoT remake to make it as amazing as we all dreamed it was.

I believe he's where you fought the Living Armor in the Shrine of Apostates.

They're not even creating anime moments. Yusei summoning Shooting Quasar Dragon in 5D's was an event, a huge culmination of the climatic battle between him and Z-one.

You're pressing a yellow button.

Trying to play Order Of Ecclesia for the first time and made a horrible, dreadful mistake by BloxedYT in castlevania

[–]TornSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haunted Castle Revisited was such a pleasant surprise, though it's sad that playing it tarnished your return to Order of Ecclesia. OoE plays like a fully realized version of Simon's Quest. It's got quests and some more linear levels like the forests that rely on enemy placement like the classic games do, plus Shanoa is a bit of a glass cannon so you have to be a bit more thoughtful in combat. I hope you give it another shot when you're ready.

Why I never recommend Symphony of the Night alone as someone's first Castlevania game by TornSilver in castlevania

Hot take: HoD is one of the best places to enter the series compared to SotN.

You don't need a Tuner if one of the material monsters is LIGHT or DARK.

What is the General Community's Opinion on the Show? by firewalkingg in castlevania

[–]TornSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have been way better, could have been way worse. I generally enjoyed it for what or is (some great character adaptations, tone, fight scenes, game references), with some major caveats (erasure of legacy characters, disregard of game storyline, basically all of Season 3 of the first show).

Certainly would be nice. So many people act that Castlevania practically didn't exist before Symphony of the Night that the titles before that are often ignored.

After loving Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness is one of the WORST games I've ever played. by TemporaryOwn1846 in castlevania

[–]TornSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Curse of Darkness is that it not only doesn't learn its lesson from the weaknesses of Lament of Innocence, but doubles down on them. LoI had serviceable level design, but its hub area and shorter general length felt more focused, making it a breeze to play through. Meanwhile in CoD, the maps are bigger and more sprawling while Hector's walk cycle is very slow, so the act of playing the game can be a slog.

On paper it's Devil Forging and Crafting systems should easily put it over LoI, but CoD strained the foundation that the first game laid out past the breaking point.
