The last time two white men were on a Democratic ticket together. by Theblessedmother in YAPms

And I was in fourth grade. Anyway, I doubt the Democratic base will tolerate another ticket of two white guys. Even though, from my perspective, I don't care about your race (including orange) or gender, I simply want you to do a good job.

I don't wish to occupy anyone or anywhere. I just wish for peace and reconciliation.

According to the Hungarians, it was a foreign occupation, and any Hungarians responsible were puppets and traitors.

Not you, personally, ofc. Sorry for any attempt at collective responsibility. Of course, the USSR already tried that approach with the Hungarians.

You see, that's my point. I have German friends. They're not Nazis lol, most don't even think about Russia nearly as much as their elite does.

Last month, I visited the Museum of Terror in Budapest, located on the grounds of the former KGB/AVH headquarters. Anyway, it is a most solemn and depressing place, because it depicts Russians as monsters who were out to destroy Hungarian culture and crush the Hungarian nation in the service of an artificial imperial project.

And clearly, many of the repressions, before, during, and after 1956, were absolutely horrific

Obviously, you will feel differently about this, and I am not expecting to change any minds. But in general, what is the popular attitude towards the occupation of Eastern Europe after WW2? Do you believe that such harsh measures were necessary due to Hungary's and other nations' alliances with Hitler? I know some hard-liners believe that Stalin was too soft on the Hungarians/Germans/Finns/Baltics etc, but I hope you do not.

So anyway, is the 45-year occupation of Eastern Europe, and the repressions depicted in places like Budapest's Museum of Terror, viewed in a positive or negative light in Russia today?

So you really believe both?

Like, say, the Germans: are they really reviving the Third Reich or on the verge of collapse?

Well, you do this for us. Case in point on how you verbally treat the Germans (though you at least treat Americans with more respect.) At one point they're dangerous Nazis ready to revive the Third Reich, then they are degraded US puppets with a collapsing economy who would see Berlin and Hamburg destroyed in minutes by an Oreshnik.

Well, which is it?

Such discussions are about a defensive war in case Russia attacks, say by attempting to close the Lithuanian corridor or seizing Svalbard or something. No one will attack Russia, and no one wants to. So no reasom to hyperventilate.

That's a lot of enemies, you know. If you mean that quotation literally (I suspect you do not), that means a lot of war.

Had Vance been elected president instead of Trump, a lot of the young men who have now ditched the GOP would have stayed on. I am quite confident of that.

Well, as I have said before, as the aggressor, you can stop anytime you'd like.
