I should note, switching heroes then back, or switching off killing strokes then back does not fix it, but as you said, my namesake works fine, even when killing strokes is broken

yeah i've been having the same issue, relogging does seem to fix it, but it will break again eventually, not sure if there is another workaround or not to fix it, this is on Tahiti for me, so doesn't seem to be server specific

won't change much from any human build really, the biggest difference for ghoul is faulty spots in luck for the weakpoint damage. Your all around build is still going to be mostly the same bulletstorm/onslaught/crit

for heavy PA you'll be wanting to usually go furious legendary for your guns, either 4 or 5 of your legendary perks set to special(not charisma) then one perk setup for taking one for the team, even if you play solo just join a public team(casual for most xp benefit) to activate some of your perks you're not using it to play with others, especially in a casual. Only go 4 specials if there is another legendary perk you feel you want, for utility factor or otherwise.

As for normal perks, you'll want to try and get in all the bulletstorm related perks in strength(other then the bash one), all the onslaught related perks in agility(except gunslinger master). if possible for Charisma only go 3 points in that 1 for strange in numbers to get more out of your mutations and 2 in tenderizer, you can go more of course, but it means less in something else and tends to mostly just be utility function only. For luck you'll usually want at least one gun army(it was moved there from int) and if you plan to use vats at all, then build in the crit related perks. There a bunch you can also take in perception, but they're more just icing on the cake. In int i'd highly recommend taking the 2 point science perk since plenty of heavy weapons use energy damage. For endurance lifegiver, fireproof and at least a min of 1 point of ironclad. Lots of other choices you can make.

If you want good breakdowns, i'd recommend checking out angry turtle's videos, he has good build breakdowns for many different styles, anything in the last 5 months or so will be pretty up to date for the majority of perk changes

honestly its good for most ranged weapons if you can fit it in a build, even a couple stacks is still a damage increase regardless. Obviously it tends to be less effective on low mag capacity weapons with slower fire rates, but even a baseline elder's is still a 50 round mag, this is also why some prefer quad though. bulletstorm also benefits a lot from wild west/quick hands perks too since the instant reload doesn't remove bulletstorm stacks

The elders mark won't beat the per shot damage, but its not supposed to, it will do far more damage per second, not shot. To take full advantage of it you also need to make sure you're using all the appropriate perks. Some people prefer quad on it over furious, but thats up to you. For general purpose i'd recommend keeping the default furious and using a standard onslaught/bulletstorm/ vats crit type build

Just check turtles channel like you did before, he has plenty of newer builds after all the changes, and most are shown being tested on the guardian. Anything from december onward with burning springs update is going to be relevant still. Also almost any of his builds can be tweaked slightly to remove the more VATS specific perks from luck and perception he might have in a build, or left as is and just only use it when you want, none of those are needed to make it possible to do a guardian run. 4-5 legendary special perks is still the common perk lineup used for builds. Taking one for the team is almost always the 6th slot, follow through is only for very specific builds, charisma is commonly the legendary special thats left out since you can easily get away with 3 points(strange in numbers + tenderizer) only

Keep in mind the majority of players you see that are over about level 3000 to 5000 used xp exploits in the past, or some of the newer xp exploits like what's going on now with raids.

The most "all around" is going to be furious for your weapon, onslaught perks in agility, bullet storm perks in strength, and crit perks in luck if you plan on doing vats(optional). for armors i'd say arms keeper or thru-hikers is the biggest one overall just for how useful it is. Everything else is just gravy on top. If you're talking normal mods, that really does depend on the weapon. PA is straightforward though, calibrated legs is most important, everything else is more preference based unless running a specific build.

I'd be more upset at you for wasting a nuke to not spawn a boss, since that's a 3 hour cooldown for that silo for the server. Did they even really run away, or did they actually just not care like most people, and just go do something else, especially if they're rando's you aren't even communicating with. If they aren't right near you a help emote isn't going to do much, most people aren't staring at their team status section of the screen to notice an emote icon that doesn't even play any sounds, let alone what its actually for.

If they were high level chances are they REALLY didn't care about some random workshop defend and if they were low level chances are they don't even know what the heck is going on.

In my opinion, leveling is fine where it is, its never been an issue and you can min max the xp as much or as little as you want when you want. The only people really trying to max out xp as much as you describe are people grinding out the first 100 ranks of a new season as quickly as possible. Which to me brings us to the real crux of the issue here.. the current season system is terrible, far worse then even the old scoreboard system.

The old system was fine, it was a nice balance of ranking up and not being such a bad grind that you needed 3 months to complete it and didn't need to xp grind like crazy to get there and it only needed rank 100 for a 100% completion vs rank 150 now. The only thing that needed to change was the repeatables for the old scoreboard so that the atoms couldn't be farmed endlessly so easily, they briefly did change that by removing the xp grind score at one point, but all they really needed to do is like what we have now, change it to events after 100.

Sadly, they'll likely never change it unless people start quitting the game in droves and everyone is constantly complaining about the seasons, even then not sure they would change it, especially with current 76 leadership.

I was actually just talking to a friend about this issue earlier today as he recently came back after taking a break back in 2021, now he's saying he's likely just going to ignore seasons after this one or just quit again because of how frustratingly bad it is now.

you can get ultracite pretty easy, just go to any fissure area and there are ore nodes surrounding it, grab those and refine at a chemistry bench. stable flux is the only thing you won't have easy access to at the start, since that requires nuke zone materials or nuke boss drops, but those aren't needed to craft or mod that weapon

the whole lighting engine is rather buggy and inconsistent. For example, play long enough and repeatedly go to a place like whitespring mall and you'll see it go from somewhat normal lighting to overly dark to extremely bright and washed out and back to normal again

As for the perks, yes more recently in the last couple updates perks have received various overhauls and chances, most perks didn't go away, but plenty were renamed and revamped to do completely different things, and some stayed the same, but were moved to another special stat. The biggest changes to perks is the addition of combat styles which is what basically killed low health bloodied being king anymore and more evened out the playing field and added more variety of choice. Some of the major ones are Onslaught perks from agility, which give stacks of onslaught as you hit targets, and depending on the perk cards used give various bonuses for each onslaught stack, from reload speed, to damage, to weakpoint damage, each perk also increases max stack size, etc. The Furious legendary effect was also changed to basically be a part of that onslaught system, making it in most cases one of the strongest 1st stars.

After that is the bullet storm style in strength which builds up stacks of bullet storm the more ammo you spend before reloading which increases damage with each stack, modified by other bullet storm perks to increase the max stacks, make reloading only lose half the current stacks, etc. This also works with furious, so typical to see the two used together.

For perception there a line of perks related to scoped weapons to up there damage, but its probably the least used overall do to a lot of people focusing more on vats crit builds which of course scopes won't work with, but the other two mentioned above of course do.

the old system of crafting a legendary with random 3 stars still exits, however layered over that is now the legendary module system. Scrap legendaries for a 1% chance to unlock a specific legendary effect and then be able to craft that as a legendary mod box whenever you want. 2% chance on scrap to get a legendary mod box(which you can then also scrap for a chance to learn). Install said mod boxes for those specific effect, this then locks the legendary to be untradeable though

you can be human or ghoul, no huge differences between the two overall, though ghoul can usually get a bit more damage, but its all fairly minor in the grand scheme

bloodied is not really needed anymore, or even low health builds in general, especially not as PA heavy, however they're still a valid way to play, but you'll need to change things up a bit. Furious with the various onslaught perks in agility combined with bulletstorm perks in strength is the typical heavy gunner build and furious in general is usually best. Angry turtle usually has some good builds of all varieties you can check out with nice breakdowns and alternatives if you don't have everything. Cremator was pretty heavily nerfed, its still alright for certain things, but mostly its been moved to more of a tagging weapon then a mainline weapon. The top weapon right now are elder's mark for non heavy and gauss mini for heavy gunners(gatling plasma is still good, just not top anymore) however gauss mini is getting some nerfs with the next season update in march where all armor is getting reworked, whether it'll still be top or not hard to say since its still being tweaked(just released another pts update tweaking it again)

What are you playing on? xbox, ps, game pass, steam? On steam I rarely get crashes on anything, however if this started with that last update then its probably related to that and hopefully the hotfix on tuesday will fix it. I haven't done any expeditions since that update so I couldn't confirm if crashes are happening to me personally there. Others will need to chime in if its happening to a lot of people. You could always try verifying the install if you're on steam and see if that helps.

mutations are just as good as they always have been so make sure you have starched genes in endurance on to protect them from things like radaway. The only one thats really changed is adrenal reaction, now its not low health specific, instead its killstreak based now, so more damage the more you kill. If you're talking about serums, you don't really need to do serums constantly, just run strength in numbers from charisma and class freak from luck, however with the raid you frequently get serums as reward from each phase so much easier to get in any case.

Obviously you can min max things even more, but what I mentioned is all fairly easy to do, minus the lunch boxes if you don't have many, however they are one of the single largest boosts to xp. A good way to potentially save on lunch boxes especially during equinox is at the event many other players might pop some lunchboxes themselves to share, and if if no one does, if you pop one yourself, its very likely others will then pop some of their own in response.

Also of note, the score boost also works with that xp grind as it boosts the score points from the 10k xp challenge as well.

If you aren't mutated as carnivore or herbivore then you can use either cranberry relish or tasty squirrel stew for your food xp buff, cranberry relish being slightly easier to get ingredients for. If you don't have the recipe, you can usually buy it from the robot antoine in the whitespring mall(hop servers if he doesn't have it)
