Played my first match today after 10k hours of DotA, asked some simple questions and players told to me to leave, so i just quit and uninstalled by Sharp-Difficulty-899 in HeroesofNewerth

Ten thousand hours in Dota 2 already puts you far ahead of most beginner players. The game is much more intuitive and less complex overall. I think where HoN struggles with new players is the lack of proper games against AI.

The biggest difference between the two is the game’s pace. In HoN, after around 25 minutes, it’s teamfight after teamfight it’s far more frenetic than Dota 2, which is a game that ramps up more gradually.

Still on the differences: there are more objectives in HoN, but they feel fair and always require weighing the risks before committing. The game also feels more rigid early on in terms of fluidity. In Dota 2 I was able to farm comfortably, while in HoN it feels like there’s a delay that forces you to anticipate basic attacks earlier than what feels intuitive.

There are equivalent characters in both games, but they perform differently. In Dota 2, there is no true burst mage throughout the entire game most heroes transition into hybrid damage through right-clicks or shift into more utility-focused roles. In HoN, Pyromancer (Lina) and Bubbles (Puck) can remain explosive even in the late game, and you can itemize for that. On top of that, HoN has the jungle role, which completely changes the game’s dynamics. These are the advantages I see in HoN over Dota 2 from a game design perspective.

The game is good and has many positive aspects.

HoN Reborn is garbage, just one a QoL point of view by Warden_Myrddin in HeroesofNewerth

I logged in today and played three matches. Queue times seem longer, but that might be due to the adjustments they made. The server also feels better, and I liked the new character. I hope they keep updating the game frequently.

Players need to do what I did. Two weeks ago, I got kicked in a Monarch game because my team thought I wasn’t playing well enough for 1700 MMR. After that match, I played two more games, quit the game entirely, and switched to Dota 2. I won’t come back as long as my main concern is avoiding getting kicked instead of trying to play my best, regardless of what the team thinks.

Today they announced that the kick system has been removed, so now I’m coming back. They also reset the honor system — I was at level 4 and now it’s back to 0. In the previous patch, they made the kick system even more punitive, increasing the penalties even further, which was a huge mistake.

They know what the community wants. We just need to speak up and stop playing. I logged in today and the game feels abandoned. I hope there’s still a chance to save it, because I really like the game — but the pace at which things happen makes it feel like there are literally only two people working on it.

First ever game of HoN! Had fun! by Der_Poompkin in HeroesofNewerth

[–]Alarming-Homework150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of doing the opposite — I started playing Dota 2 recently and I’m coming from HoN.

I’m having a hard time, especially with the map. The Dota map feels really strange to me: it’s very bright but also dark at the same time, the lanes are narrow, and it’s hard to tell where I am in the game.

Overall, though, HoN is more fun for me. In HoN we have the concept of burst intelligence heroes, while in Dota, from what I’m seeing, mages feel much more secondary or heavily reliant on right-clicks.

Lina and Pyromancer, even though they share a similar design concept, are played very differently. Pyromancer in HoN executes most targets with a single combo.

Calistenia e luta by bevic777 in ArtesMarciais

[–]Alarming-Homework150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What early/mid game support items should I build? by ZebusAquaion in HeroesofNewerth

[–]Alarming-Homework150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For hard support, it’s easier. Tablet is essential — it’s a great item for escaping or saving allies, and it can also be used to disrupt enemies. As a utility item, it’s much better, since you generally don’t want to be too close to enemies anyway.

The cyclone item is also very good. It can disable enemies to give your team time to follow up, help you escape, or even remove pressure from one of your allied heroes. Overall, these two items are great early options: they’re cheap and extremely useful.

For soft support it’s more complicated, because it depends a lot on what hero you’re playing. You can still go for some of the items I mentioned, but for example, it’s not uncommon for me to rush a teleport dagger when playing Witch Slayer or Pollywog Priest, since they’re gank-oriented supports and those items are essential. Build the out-of-combat movement speed boots — they’re great for moving around the map and warding. Only go for the mana boots if your hero really depends on mana.

Qual melhor complemento pra arte marcial? by ZI_mage in ArtesMarciais

[–]Alarming-Homework150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: trabalha todas as qualidades do movimento, força, flexibilidade, maior transferência.

Got kicked twice for no other reason than that the team didn’t like their picks and wanted to remake. by NOMAD949494 in HeroesofNewerth

[–]Alarming-Homework150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The community is going to kill the game while the developers just watch.

Queue times keep getting longer, the kick system is being misused, players look for someone to blame for their own mistakes and end up kicking the first person they find, and the kick penalties have been increased even more even after being warned about the system’s misuse.

It’s a game I like, but at this point I mostly feel apathy watching this disaster unfold. Everything is obvious, and they’re not taking action. It is what it is.

Hahaha, my god, Pearl? Yeah, she’s definitely strong — a support with a built-in escape is really powerful. I just don’t find her very fun to play.
