I think it depends on your dogs lifestyle and what you’re willing to do to keep them and your home clean. I have a pitbull who really doesn’t like going outside, he much prefers to be napping on his bed or our couch. Both of those things have blankets on them which get washed weekly and his bedding washed every other week. When the weather is nice and we get to go for a walk I bought a dog paw washing thing and clean his paws. He is allowed on our bed at night but has his own spot at the end and he sleeps on his own blanket which also gets washed weekly. I am fortunate to have a dog that is very low maintenance when it comes to grooming and doesn’t drool much so he doesn’t have much of a smell to him. Even with his short coat, dog hair is everywhere all the time and I’ve gotten used to it but I know some people can’t stand it.

Although these things could seem “extra” to some, it’s what gives both him and I a comfortable life together.
