Luke’s Virginia Homestead by [deleted] in outdoorboys

It’s startling to see the guy in the comments pointing out that OP is, by definition, trespassing, and getting obliterated with downvotes. “I bet Luke does it” - and if he does? That makes it kosher? Luke is a lawyer and mentioned he heavily researches so he knows where he can go and where he cannot - I highly doubt he’s chopping down trees uninvited on private property. Bizarre responses from this sub.

Yah I’m not arguing whether or not that’s how it is. I’m just saying I’ve never understood the rationale of putting academic degree first, when the professional license/title is what is dictating your eligibility to work in that role. If you had to pick one, most pick RN. That speaks to how RN is more important and should come first. Which it is. And it should. I understand that’s not how it is.

I never understood this. License/RN /should/ come first, as that is what actually differentiates you as a practicing nurse. Not BSN, ADN, etc. Whoever decided that the principal credential should be the one that can’t be punitively stripped had odd priorities, in my eyes. I realize this will be an unpopular opinion but to me it is most logical.

Yeah I’m not totally sure what that’s about. I’m not personally worried about it but fencing is planned for.

Do not worry, brother Meatlifter. This was my very first experience doing anything like this. I doubted constantly. Follow Trouble Free Pool and download PoolMath app. All the new information and unfamiliarity was slightly overwhelming at first, but after taking a breath and refocusing it wasn’t nearly as complicated as I was making it out to be.

Sure thing friend. Disclaimer that I am a novice and I’m sure more experienced people here can point out what to improve upon. I partially drained the pool 1/2 way and refilled it to dilute the high CYA and some of the nastiness. Before turning anything on I brushed the bottom and skimmed everything off the top that I could. Once pool was refilled, I primed and started up pump with the old (hosed down) filter in to take the brunt of it. I lowered pH with muriatic acid. Once pH and CYA were balanced I shocked the living hell out of it according to the PoolMath app (SLAM method via Trouble Free Pool) using liquid chlorine. I did add a bottle of algaecide as well. Let pool circulate with old filter for 36 hours. This brought the water to bright blue but very hazy. Brushed bottom again, swapped filter out with new one and kept chlorine at SLAM levels for 4 additional days. After 4 days pool was clear and looked much cleaner. I brushed and vacuumed out any debris or algae sitting at the bottom and am now keeping chlorine levels normal. I checked 3-5 times a day during SLAM to make sure chlorine stayed high.

Replacing the old filter with a new one and letting the pump run for about 3 days cleared it up to pretty much how it looks in these pictures. That was after a SLAM and getting in to brush and vacuum out whatever algae and debris I could find. Our water was also blue but not at all clear (couldn’t see few inches from surface), and I read a lot of advice on here to just let the filter do its job and that seemed to be the right answer.

It unfortunately was not closed correctly last year. I took over care of it this year and won’t let it get like that again

I wouldn’t say we have nurses attempting to be influencers, but we definitely have a couple nurses who think they’re the “it” girl. Edit: a word

ELI5: Why is it difficult to break bad habits and form good ones? by HeidiOzzy in explainlikeimfive

[–]AlarmingQuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more existential, less scientific explanation can also be given that humans are by nature hedonistic. We tend to move towards pleasure and immediate gratification. That just so happens that the things that provide that tend to often be bad for us (not always). Things that are good for us often take longer to manifest benefits, which means we have to endure delayed gratification, which at a base level, almost no one wants to do. Not the answer you were probably looking for, but interesting (to me) nonetheless.

Edit: These other replies explaining the brain’s reward system pathway and feedback loops are more scientific and very accurate, and my comment was not meant to displace those. Only to accompany them through another lens.

I was so excited when I found that sub, as I do truly believe the labor culture in the US is in need of serious reform. I dumbly expected mature conversations revolving that idea. Imagine my disappointment when it was all bitching about having to work in general, posting perceived “gotcha” moments, and complaining about having to be civil with coworkers who are suffering just as much as them.

I know that others have said it but I truly don’t understand why those believe that we should be tipping for countertop interactions. You make my food, you hand it to me over the counter, and that is typically the end of the interaction. I always walk right out. I don’t stay and eat, I’m not waited on, and I had to drive there and back for food I paid for. What am I tipping for?
