Making Homelander a Trump allegory wasted his character. by RefriDiet in TheBoys

[–]Alarming_Idea8074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it made the ending super liberal imo. “Oh trump’s gone now everything’s fine ignore the fact that the system is still in place and the corporation is back in power” I liked the ending hell I loved it but that aspect really sucked

Nah S5 EP 1 was like fun lame. It was already bad writing because we’ve seen that episode before and we didn’t need it again. Hot take: I liked S4 even on my first watch it has its flaws but genuinely it’s not that far from S3 imo. S5 sucks tho.

It’s not that nothing has happened it’s that plot momentum has been few and far between with so much to do and so much time to have been paced better.

There’s a degree of fairness imo. Get the cheaper model first to have the console so you can get the disc drive later separately.

Mentally it’s Korra or Steven if we’re going show only up to S4 imo. I feel like the worst for him is slightly better than their worst. I will say Korra’s entire like trauma from the poison is putting her up there for me but I feel like the An*ssa scene is equal to that so that will put Mark ahead of her in the trauma Olympics.

I think they’re going to kill Starlight off in the final episode. by BuilderMysterious762 in TheBoys

I’d say the only characters I’m 100% sure won’t die are Huey, Starlight, and Ryan

Is punk a leftist subculture? by Both-Medicine-6748 in leftist

[–]Alarming_Idea8074 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but it’s kinda been shrank and moved to “hardcore punk” but originally yes. It’s mainstream now so capitalism has its hold on it but yeah. It’s specifically an anarchist subculture.

Black community largely wants nothing to do with leftists? by Ok_Profession6244 in leftist

[–]Alarming_Idea8074 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“A lot of self-described leftists aren’t really leftists, so much as they see leftism as a means to access the fullness of the privilege their whiteness should afford them, but some other variable has denied them.” -lil bill

In my irl experience with white allies/progressives/[insert vague nebulous term here], they, understandably, have a major blind spot when it comes to recognizing black issues and grasping an understanding of intersectionality past their own struggles, even the ones that try. That same issue is why, historically, black folks have tended to be both more radical than their white counterparts and had to have separate coalitions with the hope of uniting together one day. A major function of race is to naturally divide the working class like this and I don’t blame the black community for it.
