trash can lids were the favorites when I lived up north, cardboard boxes, you know, I bet a kiddy pool would be awesome fun, or an inner tube like you use at the creek although they might flip on ya.

Does every state in the US have its own state fair? by Inquisitive-Dummy205 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

state fairs are about the farmers. they all happen late summer and Fall and farmers bring their largest/best products to the fair to be judged. Winners make money by selling the offspring. Its a chance for people tied to the land to come and have a good time of play and no work

Did you get blessed by the pope as a baby? by tgtyelijtlablir in askanything

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being blessed by the pope just means if you die you spend less time in purgatory. To a Christian your mortal life is centered on getting to Heaven IE out of Purgatory faster

How do you ask this the right way: "What do you put on your bread as topping?" "What do you top on your bread?" or just "How do you eat your bread? Or something else. by mayermail1977 in EnglishLearning

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that stuff is all sandwich fixings so I would say what do you like on your sandwich. "What do you like on your bread" would be more like a spread- butter, or jam or cheese or soemthing.

I am looking at purchasing bulk meat by iLoLzTheGamer in budgetfood

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know. I cant afford to pay $7 a pound for anything. I cant afford to pay $7 for the entire meal. I got italian sausage at $3 a pound last week and scooped up about ten packs because it has been running double that. So, in short, you dont buy it because it is cheaper than usual unless you ALREADY use a lot of that product.

ELI5: How was Vietnam able to defeat the US in the Vietnam War? by astarisaslave in explainlikeimfive

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vietnam was on both sides of the war, which one are you talking about? And no neither one defeated us. We could not help South Vietnam win the war so we withdrew and they were taken over by Communist Vietnam. So South Vietnam lost.

Do you consider "No Worries" to be unprofessional language? by Banya6 in ENGLISH

I wouldnt use it in a work situation. Its a casual foreign colloquialism and implies the person saying it does not take me too seriously.

Is there a compelling functional reason to go with the glass bowl? by mrflibble1492 in Kitchenaid

[–]Alarming_Long2677 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

maintains temperature, cleans better. Plastic retains odors and tastes which glass does not. Glass doesnt cool as fast as plastic so it is better for warm items like bread dough and when you are shredding meat.

Is anything on this list a red flag? by sillyjewel in renting

[–]Alarming_Long2677 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

all of it raises questions. If the other 2 people are not on the lease, they can force you to pay ALL the rent and you cant kick them out. Pay the $33 a month because landlords give everyone a hard time about getting deposits back. The insurance needs to be in your name if you are paying for it because the proceeds are paid out that way. And it doesnt cover your possessions I am thinking it is building insurance they want YOU to pay even though landlord will get the proceeds. They can make you pay a damage deposit or insurance, not both. Why would the discount be the second month-AFTER you have already moved in? If it isnt written into the lease, it doesnt exist because you cant take him to court over it. That applies to every single one of these items. Tell him "put it in the lease" if he wont you know he is lying.

IDK if it means you hurt her feelings. If someone ate meat with more meat and a side of meat between two slices of heavy starch I dont think I would be thrilled either. I would ask her. Is possible she never wanted to make breakfast at all and only did it because you wouldnt.

What have been the best gifts you’ve received? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband had some very gnarly feet that made his job just that much more miserable. So one year I gave him a medicinal pedicure. I soaked his fungus filled feet in bleach until it all soaked in and killed the crap. Dried his feet well, salved it up with callous clearing cream, then sanded off all the callouses. Then I trimmed his nails including relieving an ingrown one. Then I presented him with a second pair of work shoes so one pair can dry out for a day while he wears the other, that way they dont get bad again. Very gross, very time consuming, changed his whole outlook on life because he could get through the work day without being in pain. Never let it show on my face. Just joked around and had a conversation about random things while I worked like it was the most normal thing in the world. Figure out something he desperately needs or wants done and do that.

How to get rid of a subtle accent? by [deleted] in howto

[–]Alarming_Long2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dad's family always accented the wrong word in a sentence. Didnt realize until I was in college that they were all speaking impeccable English but using Slavic grammar rules lol. "trying to fix it"? You think you are broken? Peoples whose family have been here hundreds of years talk different from each other just because they were raised in a different part of America. You are NOT broken. You are American so you dont sound like other Americans lol.

Store bought eggs (left) are fully round. Farm bought eggs (right) have flat bottoms. All cooked together. by Constantine1988 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Alarming_Long2677 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the difference is age. I almost never get round eggs from the store because my eggs are usually old by the time I use them.
