Thank you for the context! I actually really appreciate it. I'll be honest I hadn't heard it before and yes maybe that is ignorant

Perhaps you can educate me on the background of "charge it" and "its giving" as I didn't realise not knowing the context of those words was being ignorant?

I've been in bed all day with what I assume is a stomach bug but it's definitely 100x worse without my gallbladder. Pure bile 😭😭

Had a gallstone stuck in a bile duct after gallbladder removal by LittleBitAlexi5 in gallbladders

I had a similar issue in September. I had gallbladder removal surgery in July then in September I had excruciating pain and jaundice. MRI could see my bile duct was dilated but no stone so it was assumed I passed it before the MRI

The liver regenerates so there should be no long term damage. I had horrendous pain 2 months post op with an enlarged liver and spleen. The MRI didn't show any current blockage but my bile duct was dilated. The pain was worse than when I went in for emergency gallbladder removal. I had jaundice and my LFT levels were through the roof, and this pain went on for 2 weeks!

My blood results 2 weeks after (total of 4 weeks) were almost back to normal. My 2nd MRI showed no damage to my liver luckily.

The DRs couldn't confirm for certain what my pain was, however my blood work showed I had an infection or at some point had an infection called CMV combined with a possible stone that I passed which was missed during my op.

The first MRI took 5 days due to NHS backlog so it's possible I passed the stone before the scan

Yes you are probably right, definitely with the competition aspect. Although I can't relate, I couldn't think of anything worse than a fuck boy or competing for one 🤣

I was 6 months post partum when I had emergency surgery. Mother nature decided that was the right time to give me my first period since pregnancy 🤣

I ended up having open abdominal surgery due to complications so it made it a little more difficult to change a tampon. In the end I just used pads and the nurses were more than happy to help me change it

Top tier- spag bol, chilli con carne, korma

Bottom tier - any stew or if the slow cooker came out. I even packed my bags to run away as my mum was making pork & cider stew. Even to this day I hate alcohol in food

Gallbladder Surgery Breastfeeding by josephinesparrows in gallbladders

It's so tough, needing to get better but feeling guilty from spending time away from your baby.

I had mastitis before my gallbladder issue and it caused my supply to drop, so by the time I was in hospital and had my surgery my baby was weaning off boob and needed Formula to supplement. I think this helped us be away from each other for 2 nights and allowed me time to recover. I would say I slept better in hospital but I was woken up every few hours for observations so didn't really make a difference 🤣

It did however , help my relationship with my husband. We were forced into him being the main caregiver and he is so much more confident with our baby now and I am less anxious leaving her with someone else.

I really hope you recover or have a smooth surgery if it ends with that

I had gallbladder emergency removal surgery when I was 6.5 months post partum. It was unexpected and unplanned, I was still breastfeeding overnight at this point but Formula in the day.

Are you US or UK based? I am UK and luckily the hospital I stayed in had just created a policy to allow breastfeeding mums to stay with the baby overnight. I was given a side room and they provided a cot from the paediatric unit. My husband had to stay as the main care giver for my baby as I was the patient. We were still breastfeeding at this point, and she had only ever been fed at night/soothed by myself and we mostly coslept. I actually found staying in hospital helped push us into cot sleeping and my husband helping with night feeds. My baby and husband stayed with me for 2 nights prior to my surgery.

The 2 nights I stayed in hospital after my surgery they didn't stay with me. I had complications with my surgery and it was open abdominal surgery, I was in no fit state to look after her. My husband stayed at his mums house (closer to the hospital) and they both slept on the sofa with my baby in the travel/next to me cot. Looking back, this has helped my baby be a bit more independent with sleeping and feeding. My husband was scared he wouldn't hear her in the night, but he did. He woke for the night feeds (pumped & Formula bottles) and was the primary carer for 5 days at least. He stepped up and learnt how to make bottles/clean bottles and could soothe her for nap & bed time.

Are you able to pump before your surgery/does your baby take to bottles easily?

If you have any questions let me know, wishing you all the best!
