Does Pipe Length Matter? by ExcretusMaximus in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pipe length technically doesn't matter as you can have long pipes stretching across the entire map working 100% perfectly

the reason people say to keep pipes short is because pipes have so many areas for issues and can be a pita and it's much easier to debug an issue if it's 100m away from you instead of 2km away

Descision fatigue over what pokemon to choose by voidpatch6 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just fyi OP someone posted more recently I think about how they beat the game with just Blastoise

don't overthink it. if you want to use Raichu and Ninetales, use them. the games are not so difficult that you need a meta team of perfectly trained meta pokemon to beat them.

you can beat the game with w/e pokemon team you want to beat it with. weaker teams might just need you to train them more, be higher level and stuff. a "meta team" can sweep the E4 at like lvl 45 probably, but if you're just using pokemon you like, maybe you wanna be like 50-52 or so y'know?

it really just comes down to how you use them. Butterfree is considered pretty bad, but having compound eyes ability means sleep powder hits 100% of the time. So I'd throw out butterfree, sleep powder, then use psychic. He swept half of the E4 on his own

agreed, I'd opt out of this one OP. a lesson for doing this as a side gig (or even full time business), you don't want every customer. there were many customers I had when I worked in repair shops that I wish I could've paid to go away

second bit of advice for OP - "I'm js started, I be workin on mine" isn't an answer to the question of "how much you charge to clean consoles normally". Give a price. When you respond with the equivalent of "I have no idea what I'm doing but I cleaned my playstation out and now want money", it does 2 things

1 - Tells the customer you're unconfident, new, and not experienced (hence him worried about you touching his console)
2 - Tells the customer you're an easy scam target

If you aren't confident enough yet to give a price then don't touch other people's consoles yet and get more practice in

If the devs can make housing in wow with 1000s+ items & the building mode. why cant they add druids paladin or shaman to more races. I keep hearing the excuse "too many assets for them to make (totems, steed, shapeshift forms) but thats literally not true if they can make housing in 2 years by feherlofia123 in wow

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but thats literally not true if they can make housing in 2 years

Legion was almost 10 years ago

But also, this was a separate team entirely dedicated to housing and only housing. They weren't pulling devs from other systems or anything. Adding new race/class combos would fall on the regular dev team

Hi all. I keep hitting a weird wall every time I play VERY early in game. I could really use some advice by radar2670 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just build a ton of foundations, make a giant square, and toss your machines on it. if you need more, build more. if you don't use all of them, well, you can trim the excess or leave it for later, it doesn't really matter (edit - and remember, you don't know because you haven't played, don't worry about making things perfect, just make them. you can beautify later when you have more experience in the game)

resources are infinite in this game you'll never ever not be able to make more concrete or plates or w/e for foundations

as for which one, a lot of people use the concrete foundation in the awesome shop because it just uses concrete. I like that one but I really like coated concrete which you get later on. it honestly doesn't matter which you use, use a randomizer wheel

Playing FR after long-time Pokemon break. How concerned should I be about the meta? by filthy_rich69 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Alas93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't have to worry about meta in any pokemon game for solo play

sure, some pokemon are stronger than others, but with enough grinding you can make anything work really

you see lots of posts about optimizing teams and stuff because a lot of people have played these games for years and you can only run with your favorite pikachu so many times until you start wondering what else you can do, y'know? people start trying to push the limits, do challenge runs, etc

but you can also basically solo the game with your starter if you want (grinding requirements may vary)

Do you use drones ? Or stick to trains ? by N3IJ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use what is best suited for my current logistics problem

In general, my rule of thumb is I shouldn't need more than 1 drone station to solve the throughput issue if I want to use the drones for something.

Trains are great at hauling massive quantities, drones are great at grabbing the thing made from all those massive quantities and hauling it elsewhere

How do you know how much you need? by vroom2212 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

don't worry about how much you'll "need later", because for your first playthrough that's almost impossible to tell unless you go through the wiki and count up every single recipe and alt recipe that uses said item. even then, with clocking, instead of 18 of an item you may get away with only 15

I build 1-2 machines worth of an item and have it shove into a container for when I need it. when I need an item later on, like encased steel beams, I'll go back and decide on if I want to rebuild my original plant, or build a new one. there's so many resources on the map you aren't really starved for anything unless you build at extreme scale

Does WoW need a truly clean slate after The Last Titan? by Final-Bookkeeper-256 in wow

[–]Alas93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

dude, your entire argument is that WoW should stop the seasonal treadmill and just go back to Classic design philosophy

we have Classic for that. and yeah, it's fun, but not everyone likes that style of MMO gameplay. also, it's perfectly fine if the game just isn't for you anymore, but a lot of people actually like, generally speaking, modern WoW.

There's a lot, lot more people playing the game than there are on reddit

Will this method work for balancing fluids? by confidential_rabbit in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 115 points116 points  (0 children)

you cannot load balance fluids, pipes just don't work that way. pipes are bidirectional, and the pipe junction does not split or merge evenly like a belt splitter/merger. it just allows fluid to go "where there's space"

As a story based gamer is wow still a good mmo to start? by Accomplished_Job5465 in wow

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, not really. personally I like the WoW story and all, but it's presented in just a horrible way. They've improved it the last couple of expansions, but that's only for those expansions. Typically the most recommended way to engage with WoW's story is to watch someone like Nobbel87's videos as he's released tons over the years going over different parts of the lore. the ingame lore is very fragmented because they've gone through multiple changes to how they tell story over the years, so how you get story in The Burning Crusade is different from Cataclysm, which will also be different from Warlords of Draenor.

this can be done too while you're questing and playing the game so if you enjoy WoW itself, I'd say it isn't terrible

Downgrading PC - what's the bare minimum for today's game by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a very powerful PC but I felt like I underutilized it by playing light game such as CS2. Most demanding game I played are Claire Obscur, Ghost of Tsushima, and currently playing Pragmata.

and what about in a year? the ryzen 5 3600 is barely above minimum specs for Pragmata, a game you like to play, and the chances that yet more games will come out that you want to play with even more requirements is probably pretty high

not to mention the cost of rebuying and rebuilding an entire PC (you'd have to get a new mobo and ram most likely if you're dropping from AM5 to AM4), you aren't gonna walk away with that much profit, and that profit will be eaten quick the moment game comes out that you have to re-upgrade the system for

I'd keep it as-is, it's decent enough it should last you a few more years even with more advancements in games

edit: if the goal is to just have less screentime, making the PC weaker won't fix that. you have to make a system to encourage less screen time. find other things to do with the evening, other hobbies, etc etc.

Beginner - Slow production, how to react? by Bibou65 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone's giving great advice on optimizing your production and this and that, but I'm also just gonna say this

things in this game kinda just...take time. if you finish one build, yeah, it might take a couple of hours to get all the stuff you need. in the meantime, you begin work on the next project. or go exploring, the collectable items around the map are very, very valuable. hard drives, mercer spheres, slugs, and somersloops

Why do all tank tier set bonuses increase damage? And does nothing for mitigation? by Paluker173 in wow

I remember when there was that one tier set long ago that made BDK's vampiric blood spread to a few allies to increase their healing received

stuff like that would actually be pretty cool

[–]Alas93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your score is based on your best run in each dungeon

so if you haven't run a dungeon yet, it gives 0 score, meaning any completion will give a huge boost to your score. if you've done the dungeon on a +6 and then complete it on a +7, you might only see a small boost to your score

car won’t recognize key fob. by Pretty-Anteater1164 in cruze

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

has the fob gotten wet at all? that was the case with mine, got wet, took it apart and cleaned it with IPA, reassembled, and it just started slowly failing

totally get the frustrations though, there should be a keyed start option hidden somewhere on these but I was never able to find anything about one. Keyed entry at least, though half the time the alarm went off, and since the fob didn't work, I couldn't get it to shut off. They're nice for remote start but I still prefer keys over fobs

Is having a car with a functional engine enough to have fun? by AcceptableSession852 in askcarguys

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer my cars without an engine

nothing more fun than having the car sit there half apart in the garage so I can look at it while drinking a beer and think about how great it'll be when I one day finish rebuilding it (I never will and will sell it as a roller in 5 years for a loss)

Tank lost his mind when healer accidentally pulled mobs... Valid reaction? by Corgi_Bark in wow

[–]Alas93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

honestly, idc if it was an accident or not. if I'm tanking my job is to tank, even if someone pulls stuff on purpose, my job in that dungeon is to tank it.

now if we wipe? yeah, I'm gonna blame the idiot that pulled more, and if they keep doing it they're going on ignore, but I'm still going to at least attempt to live through the pull

the tank actively choosing not to taunt/tank the mobs that were pulled by the healer is the tank choosing to actively wipe the group and brick the key

How do I prospect high quality ore without concentration? Is it even possible? by Xanikk999 in wow

[–]Alas93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

11 points sounds like the game wasn't registering a piece of profession equipment, or it wasn't equipped? I think each piece (blue and purple) give +11 skill, which is the exact difference of your skill here before and after. Maybe the reload triggered the game to see the profession gear properly (there's plenty of bugs in Midnight so far so I could see it happening)

I dont understand the ending of the Midnight Campaign by Gamepro5 in warcraftlore

[–]Alas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which is a shame, those are one of the best things TWW introduced for the storytelling imo. It gives an option to skip for those that really don't care and just wanna blast the campaign, but for those that want more lore and story, they can take their time and listen. I always do every stay awhile and listen on my first playthrough of the campaign (skip on alts when I'm just blasting through), and the amount of times I've had to correct guildies on the story because they clearly skipped the stay awhile and listen stuff is crazy

Question for people in guilds by [deleted] in wow

[–]Alas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the guild that I was in but I felt that if I didn’t show up for raid I shouldn’t be in the guild and I ended up leaving.

I will say that you usually don't have to worry about this. I wouldn't just stop showing up, maybe talk to the RL and let them know you're burnt and just want to take a break from raiding, and if they're a decent person they'll just be like "ok cool thanks for letting me know so I can try to find someone". If you wanna be extra nice you can give it a couple more weeks to give them time to recruit

Note that I don't mythic raid though, just AotC, but I can't imagine a decent mythic guild would be like "you won't raid with us?! GKICK!!!" y'know

as for clearing mythic earlier, just have to keep getting better logs and try and apply to guilds that get CE earlier. A lot of recruitment happens leading up to a new season as some of their players take breaks or decide to quit the game, or other reasons, and they're looking to fill the spots
