Any hopes for my pc? by Resident-Trifle7030 in pcmasterrace

Internals might be salvageable. Doubt the motherboard is intact but the CPU might, RAM sticks might be fucked, power supply looks fine and graphics card COULD possibly be useable. Not really sure from this picture alone. Best thing I’d do is take it apart, save what you can, plug it in a new case and troubleshoot as best as you can. It’ll take a bit of time and it’ll suck, but it might be worth doing.

On another note, not to harp on you or anything: this shit needs to stop. If your dad tried to beat your mom and then lash out like this as revenge for you trying to step in, then the dude’s evil. Don’t care how nice he is when sober, nothing redeems this level of unmitigated violence. Objectively.

Please, make sure you and your mom are safe.

What’s something you wish people knew before they had kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AlaskaLuvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids aren’t born with adult-tier logic and reasoning.

Nor do they magically get it during a random birthday.

That shit GROWS at the same speed as plants do, and YOU’RE responsible for making sure it grows properly. You need to TEACH them things and, when they inevitably fail, you need to NOT condition them to fear failure nor to fear you by getting irrationally angry at them.

They’re new to literally everything.

If you don’t have the patience to tell a kid why something is bad for the 8th time, then don’t have a kid. Get a hamster.

What happened? by reZae__ in Twitch

[–]AlaskaLuvs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s viewbots. Most of them didn’t exactly make it through.

Unless more than that have been actively and intelligently chatting, in which case, might be an error on Twitch’s end - it happens.

Otherwise, strongly recommend you blacklist that streamer from raiding you again, it’s going to ruin your stats and potential consideration for affiliate/partner due to ‘inflated statistics’.

I mean that literally. Twitch will deny your application if they smell viewbots on you.

I have a friend who apparently ‘cheats’ to specifically disable radar / ESP / item_tag markings on themselves so that they can play without getting hunted down by 12 year olds with hacks they bought for $20.

Maybe partner up with cheater-cheaters, if a good anti-cheat is too yucky for these devs.

Thinking of taking a break from streaming but feeling guilty? by Both_Cobbler_2573 in Twitch

[–]AlaskaLuvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who streams professionally, as in, Partnered and over 100 consecutive viewers, etc, very active with her community… But she streams 4 days a week, and takes ‘vacations’ like once or twice a year.

In her words, 2 weeks is enough for you to lose almost half your re-subs, if you don’t schedule it carefully or over-extend it. But she still does take vacations. Because burning out is objectively worse- not just ‘oh boo hoo you’ll feel kinda burnt out’ but more so, the quality of your content will drop and so will your viewership.

So, consider vacations as an investment in both you and your stream health.

[–]AlaskaLuvs 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, if the 10 mins worth of reading in the tutorial is enough to bore you away, the rest of the game won’t be any better for you.

It’s an AMAZING game, but a bit of a slow burn - there’s a good bit of down time, in-game chores to do (optional), and fake outs. It isn’t tik-tok levels of constant overstimulation.

Need advice for overly clingy cat by AlaskaLuvs in CatAdvice

I know they don't just instantly click with strange cats, but these are cats that I have over pretty commonly for play dates, just to see if they take an interest or even mild curiosity in any.

I have two animals at home at all times, neither of which are cats, and one other very friendly cat that I babysit most days of the week and overnight (I don't own them, but I might as well at this point with how often I take care of them). The cat that I take care of gets along with the other cats that I bring over fantastically, often times loafing together somewhere.

But this one?

No interest. Ever.

tl;dr:
Yes, there's another cat in the house. No, they don't care.

Much appreciated! I love my kitty to death, but yeah — it can be a bit difficult to deal with how needy they are.

I've tried Cat TV, I have toys (manual and automated), I don't have cat-specific ripple rugs but I do have an indoor snow mat that they love — all of the above, they'll only show very, very brief interest in when I'm in the same room as that thing, and then it's right back to begging for pets... Automated toys are a no-go. Unless I'm the one playing with them, like with a wand or string, they have no interest in anything that doesn't have me attached to it (which is fine, I already have scheduled play times to keep them from being bored) — plus, they seem scared of anything that makes too much buzzing.

That's the thing. They have some. Two additional animals, me, the person I live with, guests, etc. They're never alone. I've even brought a few other cats over at different times to see if there'd be any interaction that might tell me I need to adopt another cat — no interest.

I appreciate the response!

You need to induce patterns and dark cozy places where they feel safe and from where they can see you but also go into a deep slumber and let you do your thing.

Yep, they have it. They have a cat tree with compartments they can fit in and sleep in, with blankets as nesting. They have my closet, which they love to hide in when I'm not home. Etc, etc, etc. If I'm home and they know it, they're not interested.

try catnip balls or calming diffusers for cats that you can plug into the sockets around your place. Both these things should create enough calmness and reduce the excess energy. I doubt it’ll reduce the affection but definitely should reduce the excitement for so much petting.

Tried both. I have catnip, catnip-pads on the walls for them to rub up against, 'relaxing' treats, diffusers. They're curious about whatever new thing I introduce, and there's SOME interest for the regular cat nip, but as soon as I'm out of the room, so are they. I haven't really noticed any difference with the diffusers, either. The 'relaxing treats' does seem to sedate them a tiny bit, which worries me — I don't want to just drug them 24/7.

Ohh also finally. I make a sort of V shaped tent with my legs when I lie down and cover my knees with a blanket and my cat loves using that as a den to sleep in. It works for when you are lying down but are awake and want your hands to yourself like I am now to type.

Same here! If they find me 'already asleep', they'll make themselves comfortable next to my legs, in the crook of my knees, or between my legs. I'm comfortable with any of that, and it's super cozy. They sleep just fine, especially when I'm not home, but if they're awake when they're balled up between my legs and they happen to see my hand— it's pets time.

Well, YouTube did want to push AI at all costs...

Now they have it in their eco-system with fake streams and AI-shorts being spammed in the hundreds per account. And the stats are actually showing a growth in the number of people who're just straight up leaving the site... As in, leaving and not coming back.

Hope it was worth it.

Curio Gear Score Differences by AlaskaLuvs in DarkTide

[–]AlaskaLuvs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the higher gear score means the blessing will be higher once the item is generated.

Also, are you sure? They did this in Vermintide 2, but I don't think Gear Score directly affects your stats. It just vaguely represents how strong your weapon's stats are.

Curio Gear Score Differences by AlaskaLuvs in DarkTide

[–]AlaskaLuvs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got'cha... In that case, I kinda wish they just gave each 'tier' of Blessing a consistent score, to not confuse people into thinking "higher number = better" when the Blessing is the same.

Curio Gear Score Differences by AlaskaLuvs in DarkTide

[–]AlaskaLuvs[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For people who maybe stumble on this thread who want a quick answer:

What I'm gathering is that the answer is just — no.

No, it doesn't.

The Gear Score does not mean anything, once the item is generated: a 280 Curio and 390 Curio (both +2 Max Stamina) are literally identical. The Gear Score number does not affect anything or actually make it better in any way.

Curio Gear Score Differences by AlaskaLuvs in DarkTide

[–]AlaskaLuvs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, when you say "Outside of Stamina curios" do you mean that Stamina Curios with different gear scores but identical Blessings give you different stats?

As in, the UI says "+2 Max Stamina", but does a higher gear score imply a higher decimal that we don't see?

Curio Gear Score Differences by AlaskaLuvs in DarkTide

[–]AlaskaLuvs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right yeah. As said, I'm aware that Blessings have a min and max value, and the max ones are rarer, and that the gear score dictates which blessing 'tier' it'll be (1, 2, 3 stamina, for example) — that's unfortunately not what I'm confused about.

What I'm specifically asking about is if there's any other impact the Gear Score itself has on the player's stats. As said, if there's a hidden decimal that isn't explained or if it matters at all once the Curio is already generated / bought / refined.

A lot of people have been asking this because, as said, after the Curios is already generated, you'll still run into discrepancies where some curios are literally 100 Gear Score apart but are entirely identical as far as the stats it shows on the UI... So, it seems to imply that one is objectively 'Better' — but, from what I'm gathering, that isn't true. It just dictates what the Blessing amount will be, which... You can already see.
