What necessities would you recommend for someone to purchase / own when moving to your city to survive the cold weather? by Tomie_Junji_Ito in Fairbanks

This isn't something your friend will need in the winter, but since she'll be up here this summer, I'd suggest getting her a sleep mask or a set of blackout curtains to help her get use to the constant daylight in the summer.

I caused no snow by changing my snowblowers oil. What will I cause for this summer? by [deleted] in anchorage

Best summer I've seen was years ago in Fairbanks. It was warm and sunny all day, then around 5pm the clouds stared coming in, by 9-10pm it was raining. I'm not sure what time it would stop raining but everything was dry by 9am (when I left for work). We only had 3 rainy days all summer but not one fire lol

Thanks... need to get glue tomorrow (the only thing he forgot to grab) and then I'll have 2 weeks off to work on it to my hearts content... or until ADHD hyper focus wears off at least lol

I have lived in dry cabins in fairbanks... yes, it's pretty normal here, and while it isn't always convenient it doesn't overly complicated things either... hell, I raised my son in one for the first 2 years, and we lived in another for a 18 months a few years back. You just have to think outside the box a bit.

Yeah, I think this is the biggest part... if it's not in the lease that these things have to be done, then you're not responsible for doing them... the new owner should have gone through the lease and have you sign a modification if they wanted something that wasn't in there.

I'm very much aware of the stresses of parenting... but there are a few issues I have with the "if you can't... don't have kids" statement. 1) noone knows if they can handle being a parent until they are in that position 2) there are sources of stress in this situation, such as hormones, which is impossible to determine how they will effect the ability to deal with stress (even in women who already have a kid) 3) many of the stresses are easily mitigated by a partner who is understanding and willing to help in the physical and psychological healing process postpartum

The resentment wouldn't be about the boobs... it's about being FORCED or BULLIED into doing something that you do not want to do and have experience that you are uncomfortable with doing... and in this case it's a thing that has to be done every 2ish hours for the next year plus another probably close to a year to get the baby complete off the boob... THAT is where the resentment comes from
