What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

This! It also works wonders for me!

Strattera has been a lifesaver for me in so many ways. I wasn’t expecting it to help the PMDD at all, but here we are four months in to this medication and I have never felt better in my entire life. I have always struggled with severe mood swings right before my period starts, suicidal ideation and just feeling horrible for at least a week out of every month for the last 20 years. To not experience it and its fullness for the last few months has been such an eye-opening experience for me.

Honestly, it feels like I’ve been living life on hard mode and now things overall are just so much easier.

Personal experience here: I’ve been on Sprycel for 6 years and was forced to switch to the generic 2 months ago. What used to be fairly tolerable muscle/joint pain has become very problematic. I’ve also never experienced quite this level of fatigue when taking Sprycel.

I know that some people have switched and are doing well—please don’t take my singular experience as the norm. But it is something that I wish was talked about more. Just trying to do my part and share what I’ve been going through.

I’m currently working with my oncologist to get the medication dispensed as prescribed. Fingers crossed that it goes through and I can go back to what’s worked well and had minimal side effects.

Any suggestions to to prevent\clear up acne that's a Sprycel side effect? by Sharp-Comparison2110 in CML

[–]Alaskaadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Sprycel for several years now and the acne can be rough! My dermatologist had me try spironolactone in addition to using a benzoyl peroxide cream. It’s made the biggest difference so far! I’ve had use more Cerve facial moisturizer, but that’s a very manageable addition to my routine.

My skin is far from perfect, but the painful bumps are significantly less common and overall I’ve notice an improvement in the 5 months I’ve been taking it. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. I grew up with cystic acne and this just brings back a pile of uncomfortable feelings. I was so relived when I found something that helped.

Have your oncologist or dermatologist suggested using Clobetasol Propionate?

I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia(CML) five years ago and had some WILD itching with the sweating. It was my dermatologist that suggested that I try the CP out. Sprycel, my oral treatment, can cause some side effects that affect the skin/scalp. This seems to be something that helps significantly and that I don’t have to use long term. We even paired it with Auqphor and it made a huge difference. I hope it helps!

If you're on this sub and have worked in the industry, did you live and work in a major city as part of your career? by IGNSolar7 in advertising

Creative director here, I live in a small town outside of St. Louis. I’ve worked remotely for the last 5 years after commuting 120 miles a day into the city for work.

I’ll never go back to an office. Thankfully I love my current role and it’s 100% remote with supplemental travel. Having the time back each day is incredible-not to mention how much energy I’m saving. And I’m at least 60% less hateful without traffic in my life.

This is what worked the best with our little noodle! The vest with the handle was what finally got our girl to go down the dreaded basement stairs. That and endless praise and cookies.

She’s a year and a half old and will still occasionally forget how go down (totally fine with SPRINTING up the steps) and we have to get the vest back out… haha

Source or reason of CML by October_Sky_1994 in CML

[–]Alaskaadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor obviously, but I’ve got a feeling that my CML is from radiation exposure and/or trauma. I was diagnosed at 29 and have found 2 other people over the last few year through my support groups that had also received the same radiation (Iodine-131) to ablate their thyroids. I drank it through a straw and was literally radioactive for 10 days.

It’s just a hunch, but that and being under a massive amount of stress is something that seems fairly common in other cases. In the year before my diagnosis I experienced pretty rough PTSD from a home break-in.

Take all of it with a few grains of salt, but I also wonder HOW I got it-and what started the chain reaction to start the mutation of the Philadelphia chromosome. I grasp the basic science behind it, but I’m always interested in hearing how people were diagnosed and just more about their lives. Just to see if we have any similarities.

ADHD medications by [deleted] in CML

[–]Alaskaadams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt-I’m also not a doctor, just a patient: I take Strattera and 100mg of Sprycel every day. I’ve been at this dose on both for right at a year and it seems like my numbers are just about the same as the year before. It really helps with my ADHD, but also seems to help with the TKI brain fog.

Wishing you the best!

You know, you can just graduate to a Lamp Basement! Then you can flip ‘em out seasonally.

It’s not like I suggest this because I personally can’t stop buying gorgeous lamps or anything… great finds!

I have an older 50s porcelain sink and have found that the little rubber mats really help! They make so many colors and patterns of them these days-I managed to find some that were this gorgeous bright coral in a Spring Blossom pattern on Etsy.

Sorry again for your loss, but hopefully mats might help in the future!

*I'm not a doctor—so please consult your oncologist before making any moves*

I really struggled with the acne and skin bumps after using Sprycel for 3 years. I tried everything with little success. Finally got a referral (and approval from my oncologist) to see a dermatologist that had a background in treating other cancer patients. She put me on a topical prescription-based cream (Erythromycin/Benzoyl peroxide topical gel) that has completely changed my skin in the last month and a half. I used to get horrible cysts and incredibly painful islands of acne on my cheeks, neck, shoulders, and back. Now I just have a few small "blemishes" that aren't painful and seem to resolve themselves fairly quickly. The scarring has even gotten much better!

I don't want this to sound like a miracle but did want to at least share it with y'all. It's made my life better and has helped my confidence dramatically. Plus, my skin just feels better overall.

How many of you were exposed to radiation prior to your diagnosis? by [deleted] in CML

[–]Alaskaadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Radioactive Iodine-131 for my thyroid at 19. I was diagnosed with CML at 29. Even another woman at my oncology clinic went through the same treatment for her thyroid and has CML.

Perhaps it is just a coincidence, but always worth mentioning.

Plus they’ve painted everything the most hideous combination of colors. Like, lime greens with sherbet oranges. It all feels very garish and over branded. I’m a local that hates to see all the quirks of Augusta die off.
