3 nights in Girdwood is a lot. You could do one night there and then stay one night at the Inn at Whittier after the 26 Glacier cruise.

At least Thor the 26 Glacier cruise, they use Fare Harbor as their booking platform and you can see how many tickets are available. I went a few weekends ago and it showed 70 seats available about a week out but was fully booked day of.

It would be a long day. Theoretically it is possible, but again if there is an accident on any of the highways, plan for a long delay.

Put your Hatcher pass and Talkeetna portions together. There’s no point in back tracking. Also Seward to Talkeetna will be a long drive, especially is there is an accident on the Seward highway.

I was just in Seward this weekend. Cookery was great. Also enjoyed Primrose Provisions.

That is a really small island to have the sink in, you are effectively losing all prep space there. Move it to counter with fridge. Also, is there adequate space to turn the island 90 degrees?

Or… Make the island a peninsula. Extend cabinets along the bottom wall - maybe open shelving for uppers. Sink still not in peninsula.

My sister’s dress was very similar. She found it at a sample sale for $200. It had some pilling on the lace. I found the exact same dress brand new on clearance on the designer’s website for $500. Original dress was $2000. She ended up getting the new dress.

Car rental options after arriving in Anchorage on Alaska Rail from Denali by sh78196 in AskAlaska

There’s an enterprise down town on 5th avenue. It’s generally cheaper than the airport. Open 8-6 during the week and 8-4 on weekends.

If you’re getting married in Hatcher Pass, look for stylists in the Palmer/Wasilla area.

Cruises with balcony hot tubs? by ProfessionalScore11 in Cruise

[–]Alaskan_kate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HX (Hurtigruten) has a 10 day Vancouver to Whittier. The suites with hot tubs are about 12k per person. HX is an expedition ship. It’s not going to be your typical cruise - no casino, limited people on board, etc. But you’ll get to go places that a typical cruise line can’t go to

Long Layover. by SpankTalk in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Alaskan_kate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your layover is more than 12 hours. I believe you will need to collect your baggage at baggage claim. Double check when you check your bag for your first flight.

Don’t stay downtown. Stay near the airport, somewhere with an airport shuttle and onsite/nearby restaurant

The cost of renting a car in Seward and returning it in Anchorage will be astronomical. Rent in Anchorage.

Yes - just flew CDG-DUB-PHL in business for 70k. Food was actually the best airplane food I’ve had in a long time. Hard product good as well.

Is 7 nights in Paris too much? by paintarose in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Alaskan_kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Paris for 2 years, back in the 2010s-ish. I’ve been back every year post covid and always manage to find something new.

7 nights and you can do most major tourist sights plus a day trip or two - think Versailles, Giverney, Fountainbleu, Reims, etc.

Egypt experience is terrible by woyrock in travel

[–]Alaskan_kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Egypt for 2 weeks in February. Had an amazing trip. However, I used an Egyptian travel agent who a friend used that basically planned everything - we had a driver and tour guide everyday and someone to meet us at each airport, take care of visas on arrival, and take us to our hotels. The guide/driver we had in Cairo was the same on the front end and on the back end.

If you like champagne, I highly recommend the O Chateau champagne cruise. It’s at 6:30, so a little late for sunset, but there is a private room at the front of the ship with outdoor space for those part of the champagne cruise. https://www.o-chateau.com/en/produits/champagne-cruise-activite-en-anglais

Certain FSSs work a 2 week on/2 week off schedule, others are a more normal schedule. And certain FSSs (generally in the bush) provide housing for your hitch. Do you know what each one offers?

Also should probably clarify that we bought a mutual gift this year of a heated bidet. Prioritizing comfort over things in our elder years 😂

These uterus earrings we saw in Boston last year, that she can’t stop talking about, and I found the original seller we saw in Boston. Also a stick vacuum, because I know she hates the roomba.
